The All Things Terry Thread

Make Terry play every offensive snap today 😘

He can play a bunch of snaps with Sam Hartman at QB, maybe it'll help him remember how much it sucks to not have a QB. Accidentally leave a Cleveland Browns T-shirt in his dressing area.
put him on kick and punt coverage!

I think Peters is playing this absolutely perfectly, FWIW.

1. Seems like he has a handle on what the market value is.
2. Seems to be willing to come up from original ask to something a little more than reasonable because they want the player, and they are willing to over pay a little.
3. Allowed his farce of an ankle injury to play out for weeks as a cover for the hold in to relieve pressure from Terry.
4. Has not spouted off about the situation on Michael Irvin's podcast a la Jerry.
5. Didn't take the bait when Terry asked for a trade
6. Knows his position of leverage, but not overplaying his hand
7. Will not cave to pressure, even though up until very recently, public sentiment has been entirely on Terry's side absent a few message board posters who look deeper into the facts.
8. Not panicking about not having a #1 WR on a team that has NFC Championship game aspirations and doing something financially stupid.

And kudos to Josh Harris for not getting involved and forcing something.

The team is run by professionals.

No matter what Skinsfan who emailed Galid (who HAS TO BE Dan Snyder, though MIGHT BE Terry's agent) says about it, the team has played this perfectly.

He looks a bit mopey. I'd feel the same way if I am offered a measely 28 million, insulting! Also being treated like a 31 year old body isn't the same as a mid 20 year old body. Also learning that my FO doesn't consider me as good as Jamar Chase. Hard Knocks life for poor Terry. The poor dude is going to be kicking and screaming though making like 80 million in the next 3 years and maybe even playing in the SB.

No sarcasm -- I believe this. Terry would likely rather have Ron still be the coach and GM, he'd get the overpay again in a contract and he can go 6-11 for the rest of his career and he'd be as happy as a clam-- that's the sad thing for me.

I'm not crazy about how this has gone to say the least, but the body language stuff is pure BS and frankly, Nicki Jhabvala is better than this - that's the kind of thing JP Finlay would post.

Maybe but for me since it fits the theme, it doesn't seem out of place, not that there is anything dramatic there so its up for interpretation.

Granted he might have been doing jumping jacks outside of that.

Yeah, he wasn’t going to do anything so he’s just wandering around aimlessly.

I’m not sure that’s a commentary on body language.

The bigger point I think is Terry got the message skipping the Bengals game was a bad look and he at least showed up.

I don’t think that’s progress, but it means at least they are cognizant the narrative is changing.

I think for me the looking down stuff reminded me of the footage with him talking to Peters where someone lip read Terry telling him he just wants to play ball. And he didn't look happy. And we've heard to death, including from some of Terry's pals on twitter, Terry isn't happy.

But lol, yeah i am at the point that Sheehan said the team is with Terry which is they are getting sick of it as for Terry and the Terry team as to their actions. So i've gotten very sour about it all. So lol i am predisposed with the negative on Terry.

And that's a big change for me. Terry was my favorite player. I loved him before the draft and defended that pick among other things including meeting him at the SB experience in Miami -- great dude, loved him. But as some said including a local reporter, i didn't think Terry had this in him.

I imagine we will get either a resolution or a big shift in tone this week.

Preseason is over. Cuts will be made very soon. The guys we are riding and dying with are all accounted for except for one. It’s time to get ready for the Giants and a quick turn around in Lambeau.

Train is leaving the station, Terry. Either get on or we’re leaving without you and at this point I don’t care which one it is.

This.

Terry's in a no win situation.

He gets criticized if he stays away. He gets criticized if he shows up and pouts. If there was only something he could do like... I don't know... honoring his contract or signing an extension and playing with his team.

Now that the preseason is officially over, all remaining practices are going to focus on getting ready for week 1.

Terry needs to be part of those.

If he's not, that's a problem.

We've been saying "it's time" for a while. But a lot of that was out of frustration and fatigue.

Now we're into "it's time" because the team is going to start preparing for the first game that matters since last January.

He needs to declare, and then somebody needs to put out a press release. Options:

1. Play on current deal.
2. Signs extension
3. Is going to sit out regular seasons games without an extension.

There aren't other options. Pick one. Time's up. Team needs to know how to plan.

My guess is at this point, they're planning for #3. And shaking their heads about the moronic nature of it.

Terry is taking the excitement and spotlight off of our great season last year….with a rookie JD and it ticks me off.
How can a player, still under contract, just not show up? These players are paid millions.
Trey Hendrickson is going to do the same thing, and who knows what Parsons is going to do.

The Hendrickson situation is very similar contractually to Terry's situation in this regard: He's on the last year of his deal and scheduled to make $15m this year.

I don't know if he is going to carry this into the regular season also.

The difference is historically pass rushers have not dropped off as much as WRs after 30.

All of these situations are messy.

Terry's didn't have to be.

Terry’s agent right now…
