TV Show Discussion Thread

I just subscribed to Hulu and unsubscribed from Peacock (because it doesn’t play nice with a VPN.

My initial watches will be The Bear, The Shield (1st time), and Justified (rewatch). Any Hulu series that you would rate as ‘much watch’ or ‘very good’?

(I am looking primarily for gritty dramas and have no interest in animated, fantasy, or the like.)

One of the best Hulu original shows was 11.22.63, about time traveling back to stop the JFK assassination. The problem is it is no longer available on Hulu, but you can watch it free on Tubi with ads. Paridise is really good too.

Agreed!
If you like to read, you'll love the book. Stephen King is a wonderful storyteller, and producers really nailed the book in this one.

Second this. Read the book!
I read it in high school and watched the original series back in the 80's (which was very well done), and have been hesitant to watch the latest.

Since you all brought up the subject, haha.

The documentary series on Amazon, i think it was on Amazon, about the JFK doctors, finally convinced me, after watching docs going one way or the other, that the JFK murder was most definitely a conspiracy.

All the doctors agreed that there was an entrance wound to the front of the throat. Eyewitnesses have always said exactly that. Then he was removed from Texas by the secret service and people were threatened and told to stfu.

This event was likely the beginning of most of the citizens of this country not trusting their government. I imagine that Vietnam would have been a much different ordeal with Kennedy still alive and not having that albatross for the entire country to have to balance during an undeclared war which would later escalate.

I think it was Mafia and CIA related. Not trying to be political here

The Shield is my favorite show EVER. I have it all on VHS, which I can't watch anymore because I gave all 4 of my players to a repair dude. Told my dude the other night about it (he's never seen it, despite all of the film and TV work he's done)...I may have to get Hulu.

Well it is only 89 episodes, so… 🤣

Detective/Cop dramas are my favorite genre. Here is my Top 10, which is a bit dated but, hey, so am I.

GOAT- The Wire (HBO/Max)

1-9, in alphabetical order:

Bosch (Prime)
Hill Street Blues (-)
Homicide: Life on the Streets (Peacock)(seasons 1-3 while Andre Braugher’s Frank Pembleton was still on the show)
Justified (Hulu)
Luther (Hulu)
Miami Vice (-)
NYPD Blue (Hulu)
Southland (-)
True Detective (HBO/Max)

Honorable Mention- We Own This City (HBO/Max)

Just got hulu for free and it looks like there isn't much to watch but Andor is on there for a few more days and this is probably the best Star Wars anything in the entire existence of Star Wars.

I'm halfway through season 2, why haven't they made more like this?

I started watching Little America. I felt ready for some feel good true stories about the U.S.

The first two have hit the spot. I hope the rest of the shows are this good.

My wife and I are rewatching ‘The Offer’ on Paramount+, about the making of ‘The Godfather’. Great series.

Miles Teller was really good. And Justin Chambers who played Brando.

Have you guys watched MobLand yet?

Chris MobLand kicks ass. I'm a sucker for mobster movies. The Godfather is one of my favorite movies of all time.

Both The Shield and Justified are GREAT series. I plan on rewatching Justified. Every so often I will get a popup of scenes from a certain season of Justified. Even tho I've seen certain scenes 10 times I've got to watch Raylon just one more time. Not sure if it's on Hulu but Sons of Anarchy was another of my favories.

Sons is indeed on Hulu, too.
