I just saw "Lucy" tonight.

My mind is blown. Great flick.
 
Went to the movies last week and found out that the movie Sinners was supposed to be really good. I am glad that I didn't read up about it first so I had no idea what it was going to be about but I think it was great overall.

Also, saw Working Man in the theater a couple weeks before that. It was decent but nothing to get extra excited about.
 
The fishing thread and the reference to the BP spill, reminded me of a more sobering aspect of the spill.
It's conveyed in the documentary about it, "Deepwater Horizon"
Highly recommend it.
Changed my whole perspective on it, to see the torment those people went through, both the surviving ones and those who perished in the disaster, and of course their loved ones as well.

So what's out that's absolutely awesome right now? Or what did you just see that you hated?

I'll start with a pretty obvious one on the good side--True Grit. On a scale of 1-10, I rate it 8 or 9. I believe it's a pretty safe bet for anyone. If you haven't seen it yet, you would likely enjoy it.

Please share any thoughts on movies currently out that people must see, or must stay away from. Great movies to enjoy: The Shawshank Redemption (hopeful, gripping), Inception (mind-bending thriller), Spirited Away (stunning animation). Avoid The Room (poorly acted, unintentionally funny), Cats (confusing, unsettling visuals). These picks balance universal appeal with warnings for infamously flawed films based on widespread viewer feedback.

I rewatched 'The Descendants' tonight. I thinks its a very subdued but powerful movie. I did a 3 year tour in Hawaii as a young Marine officer (although spent 1/2 the time deployed) so it appeals to me on that level. But just a fantastic job by every actor/actress involved and a great and authentic Hawaiian soundtrack.

If you haven't seen it - it is really worth a watch (or two).

I bought the original 'Ultraman' series on DVD a few years back. Man - the nostalgia I feel when I see the intro and hear the opening music is insane. It's like I'm back in 1969 watching channel 20 in DC.
 
WDCA-20. Loved it.

I'm in a similar boat when I bought the Star Trek Original TV series with Shatner and Nimoy. The set came with an enhanced copy of each episode in addition to the original copy. Beam me up.

We watched Thunderbolts in the theater a couple weeks ago. It was actually pretty good. Better than a lot of the more recent Marvel movies. I would watch it again.

The new Capt America was kinda garbage.

Tonight we are going to see 1-2 more movies. Maybe Final Destination and The Accountant.
 
Going to see Final Reckoning Part 2 tomorrow night at an IMAX theater.
 
If you like "The Accountant", do NOT see "The Accountant 2".

The first one had a certain dark edginess and humor to it, where this one is a real crap-show of poorly written acts of cuteness, interspersed with bad dialogue and bad direction.

We missed the time for The Accountant 2 so we ended up watching the new final destination movie.

My wife covered her eyes for half of the movie because it's one of those where you know somebody is about to die a ridiculous death, 25 different times. For that kind of movie I guess it was decent. It's just not my kind of movie so I think it was crap. Good thing Tuesday movies are 6 bucks.

It did start out pretty good though. The first 15 minutes or so I was thinking it was going to be a good movie. Then it all went to crap.

Hopefully there are some new ones coming out in the next couple weeks.

28 years later preview looked good. The first one of those was a great movie over 20 years ago. That is out in July though.
 
The Brutalist. Adrien Brody. Very strong and moving. 3 and 1/2 hours long. Highly recommended

Awesome conclusion to an awesome franchise. Tom is a crazy mf’er and a tour de force. Hayley Atwell ain’t too shabby either. 😉
 
Watched Wicked Little Letters last weekend, the Mrs and I enjoyed it as a period piece and mystery/comedy. Was just the right length as well.

Dream Scenario was another one, kind of a horror/suspense movie, enjoyed that as well and again didn't run too long.
