Thornton is one of a number of guys I'd be aiming my 4th at. That being said, he also has the feel of someone who goes in the late 3rd/early 4th if not even earlier based on his physical characteristics. Reminds me a bit of Theo Johnson (the TE) from last year, just a physical freak that needed a lot of shaping but you can't help but be intrigued by the size/speed combo.
His lack of production probably stems a lot from Tennessee just not being a pass heavy offense. His 600+ yards was top of the team, with a QB who only threw like 2600 yards.

I just watched some Kyle Williams highlights and he looks like a ****ing stud. But he also looks like a pure slot. That’s not a deal breaker, but I think I’d rather have an outside guy, like Jayden Higgins.

That’s been my thought as well - I’m fine with a faster, bendier edge - even if just more of a pass rush specialist at the outset, and maybe they can develop/prove themselves vs the run.
Josh Taylor seems convinced Deebo is an outside guy, so a slot receiver would be a great addition, especiallly since we have Brown in reserve. With that said, I’d love to have a guy that could play either outside spot as insurance for Terry/Deebo.
I don’t mind a somewhat limited route tree from Thornton too much. Maybe I’m wrong in this line of thinking, but it seems to me there are plenty of routes that don’t require the sharpest cuts - go’s, posts, slants, crossers, and then fades/corner routes to an extent. And then of course there’s Terry to learn from. With that said, I wonder if ST play could be a major factor, especially if he’s the 4th-6th wr.

Just had a thought. I wonder if Quinn's success with Micah Parsons will lead him to think he can handle a "character-issue" player? Parsons slid based on concerns just as they're saying Pearce and what's his face will slide.

I mean, at some point some team has to stop letting all of the best draft steals fall to the Eagles at the end of round 1. I'm all for it being us at this point.
I was thinking similarly while revisiting Stewart after one of your earlier posts. He reminds me a lot of Denvers Jonah Elliss out of Utah who was a mid-round fav or mine last year.
My one sticking point is APs statement regarding what he looks for in Ends. 6'5", long arms (36"), specific seed, quickness, power.
Yeah, I know, the draft doesn't have much of those freak items in a total package but the tweener types miss too many characteristics.
That heavier explains the Trey Hendrickson intrigue. It also really leans to a Pearce type if he falls to 29.
Not sure though. Hendrickson has power-speed but is meh against the run.
Pearce? He is slighter than Stewart weight wise and one of the lighter DEs in this class and is being questioned for his ability to stop the run in the pros. 32 and change arm length which is OK but nothing crazy.
I think the game might have changed as Logan Paulsen pointed out as far as what kind of edge they need post free agency. We got the big body run stuffers. But what happens on third down? What pass rusher scares a team? We can add another DE who is more of a Philip Daniels style than an Andre Carter type. But isn't that redundant if we are in win now mode?
Like a dude like Landon Jackson is a monster against the run. But is he going to freak teams out on third down? And I like Jackson. And maybe we aren't in win now mode. But I agree with Logan Paulsen, we need a pass rusher with juice.
I think you can get Higgins in the early 2nd. Will see. But yeah i don't think I love any of the first round projected Wrs enough to not want to trade down and get Higgins. Assuming the draft goes down like that. Higgins IMO is in the class with all the first round type projected WRs. And IMO perfect for this team. I love that we met with him at the combine so it shows at a minimum he's on their radar.
I think it depends on the narrative. With Parsons, I recall watching that ESPN show that follows prospects around for weeks and films their interaction and I recall saying on a thread at the time, this dude iis an Alpha and the other players seem to love being around him. In other words, he had to my eyes some clear positive attributes that just jumped in small doses on that show that I wonder if that reflected his true personality.
If Pearce is mischararcterized, teammates love him, etc which I don't know one way or another -- then maybe there is an alternate story with him. With Parsons, i got a rare window into the personality of a player because they followed him around in basiclcally a reality TV show and the dude came off intense, competitive, smart and VERY likeable.
With Pearce, its sort of all over the place as far as the rumors -- anger issues, not easily coachable and then there are things mixed in about his play that some don't think will translate to the NFL. But yeah I trust Peters to do his true diligence on it. With the character rumor stuff over the years about the draft -- I'd say more of it has borne out in the NFL than not. But sometimes it doesn't. Kadarius Toney among others are good examples of it. Some vague references and an incident or two that describe him as a bit of a knucklehead at times. And then he comes to the NFL, and it plays out a bit, not so much as to off the filed behavior but more so as committment to the sport.
Got no idea with Pearce. But teams spend a lot of resources digging into it. Will see.

Yeah like I said, I was thinking the same and did hear Paulsens discussion. To me it makes total sense to me to grab a specialist and would allow you potentially to drop a round on edge if looked that way with tweener options. Most all of the options do not fit APs criteria and a note, I don't recall being good against the run fitting his criteria even though it seems like it should. That's especially true after dealing with a dude like Chase who was a freaking gigantic disappointment for Washington.
I also am a huge fan of Jackson but kind of like him better moving around and inside on 3rd downs to allow a rush specialist to hit the edge. With all of the FA moves with the DL I am thinking he makes as much sense as he did. If they are clean I am still coveting Pearce and Green at 29. Of course my belief is the players with the highest grade at 29 will be WR, OL and DB
SIP, just read your last post. Hadn't heard some of the additional rumors you mentioned on Pearce. Like I said, if he or Green are clean, I take them. If there is any truth not being coachable I remove either or both of them from my board
