Random NFL Thoughts

Now that's an interesting thought.

Most seem to believe he will be on a private jet straight to Robert Kraft forthwith.

Falcons are making a huge mistake letting Arthur Smith go. I think he is going to be a really good HC. It's not his fault they drafted Desmond Ridder and are treating him like he's a franchise QB. He is the guy who resurrected Ryan Tannehill's career with the Titans and is a really good playcaller. He's be on my list as a potential OC.
The one thing about Arthur Smith that frustrated people is that in so many games, he refused to use Bijan Robinson. The guy was electric when he got the ball, but too many games he wasn't getting it. And when he was asked why he isn't using his best player, he would go on some weird rant about how everyone else doesn't know what they are doing and are just worried about fantasy football. Meanwhile he's losing games and not getting his dynamic rookie more involved. I do agree that being saddled with Ridder hurt him as well, but wouldn't that be more reason to lean on your stud rookie RB? It will be interesting to see where he ends up and if he has the same issue or not. I really feel like he let his ego get in the way of being more successful. He wanted to prove other people wrong more than he wanted to do what was best for his team.

Maybe. But the other way to look at it might be just because a coach doesn’t give an answer/rationale to the media or fanbase doesn’t mean there isn’t one. You’re right that this has been a criticism. I still think the guy has the potential to be a very good HC.

Pete the Cheat out as head coach in Seattle

That was a bit of a surprise. I would think Dan Quinn would be the front runner for that job. He made his name in Seattle with that defense. Maybe that's not what they want, but if he is going to get another head coaching job, that seems like such a good fit.

Pete is out
Vrabel is out
Saban is out

So many shocking names

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that this gets announced the day after Vrabel is fired in Tennessee.

So does this mean they’re going to also hire a GM since Belichick was essentially doing both roles? Would they give Vrabel all that authority?

I'd be surprised if Kraft gave Vrable control over personnel ... watching his dynastic run crash and burn overnight once his last HC/GM lost his elite QB has to be causing him all kinds of heartburn.

And frankly, I'm not sure Vrabel would even want that. He doesn't strike me as an ego guy somehow. But that's just my own impression.

I agree. He's a players coach in my opinion and wouldn't be good at the other stuff.

But, if we hire a GM and then coach I'd take vrabel over Bill.

Yeah, I think you’re likely right. I only ask because that would be another team competing for a Head of Football Ops candidate (unless they’ve got someone internally they want to promote).

With Kraft and that history as a storied franchise, New England could be a serious competitor. Hopefully we’ve had enough of a head start we get our man quickly.

So…you fire Vrabel and you interview Pierce? 🤷🏻‍♂️

What the hell?!!

Makes sense for him, but the raiders shouldn't even let him leave his office without a contract in hand

Stroud is impressive, but I'm jealous of the pass pro.

You have to think the odds are greater than not that Mike McCarthy gets fired this week. I know that a lot of pundits are predicting Belichick to Dallas. But good lord, how could he and Jerry Jones co-exist? I cannot imagine Belichick putting up with Jone's 'supervision' and interference. I think it would blow up big and probably quickly. And that would be fun to watch.

I'm betting against it happening. I just don't think that would be an attractive landing spot for Bill if he still wants to coach.

Carolina won 2 games this season. New England, Arizona, and Washington each won 4.

All of those teams won as many playoff games as America’s Team.

Would almost have to mean they’re going to move on from Fields and draft Caleb Williams, right?
