If we had a solid personnel department then seeing the team reaquire lost picks would be possible. But, after last years draft & off-season do you trust them to select the proper players? Imho that’s what good GM’s do, like the Colts who just McNabb’d us…again.
I’ll bow out to you guys on the compensatory system, but if we sign a FA guard or any position for that matter cancel out the loss of Scherff?
They have to be on the same 'level' as far as their contract goes. Outside of Allen Robinson or the like, we're not signing anyone on the same level.
Look, i'm as critical as anyone of hte move, but lets not forget that Rivera and company have built this roster with 'cast offs.'

As far as the draft, I can't argue against either one of Rivera's draft.
The last draft we got contributors up and down the draft including a long snapper who's name you never heard (which means he absolutely did his job. I was critical of the Dyami Brown pick til I went back and watched him running open and winning his matchup on a regular basis. That's not to say he's an all pro, or that it was Taylor's fault, but he could have had legit contribution if the circumstances were different. Cosmi looks like a long term starter at RT, John Bates, William Bradley King, and Shaka Toney. The book is far from written with Darrick Forrest and St Juste (who was showing serious potential before he got hurt).
The year before that included Chase Young (yet to be determined) Antonio Gibson, Keith Ismael (filled in admirably considering he was the 4th center to play), Khaleke Hudson (was on PFF's Mid Season All Pro team as a special teamer), Kamren Curl, and James Smith Williams (who filled in well with Young and Sweat out with injuries this past season).
Is Wentz another 'value find' that other teams have chosen to move on from? I dont know, I don't really think so, but I have to say the team has done a great job of evaluating their guys, getting them, and getting the most out of them...
