I remember his 64 yard kick.

On March 30, 2020, Dempsey tested positive for COVID-19 during the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic. He was one of 15 residents at a New Orleans senior residence to test positive for the virus. He died on April 4 due to previous health complications after contracting the virus

He apparently had terrible dementia/Alzheimers (since 2013). Certainly not saying it's not sad news, but at least for him, I'm sure his quality of life was long ago diminished. May have been a mixed blessing.
