Lots of theories on what the team has in mind.. It hit me !like a bolt what their secret plan is. Stick with Haskins, lose at least 13 games, get the first pick and ,drum roll please, grab Trevor Lawrence.

And that's a no on Smith.
There is no way a 36 year old with 17 leg surgeries should be a significant part of the QB equation of a 3-win team in the process of a major rebuild. If he thinks he can play, and he can stay on the field for a game or two, I could see the Redskins keeping him around as a backup, simply because his ridiculous contract keeps us from cutting him. But I seriously hope you or the team aren't suggesting he has any kind of a chance to start for this team. That would be, in my opinion, a terrible step backwards.

And the ones who do show their potential stardom get shipped off by us to be stars on other teams, because Snyder is an idiot that knows nothing about football, but still refuses to let the football people do their jobs.Every draft we hear about these game changers. Very few have sustained excellence over a lengthy career. So, in my mind, these high value potential stars figure more in a 3-5 year window than anything long-term.

Al was talking about fitting the Mahomes/Jackson model. Are you saying you think Tua is a running QB - because that's not what I see. He's shifty in the pocket, and he can certainly run, but he definitely thrives in the pocket...

I could not disagree with this post any more...Mahomes and Jackson are 2 very, very different QB's. Mahomes is more in the mold of Drew Brees, Russell Wilson, and Aaron Rodgers...but probably better. He is a pocket QB who is so quick he has the ability to change on the fly and does, often.Al was talking about fitting the Mahomes/Jackson model.
As far as Tua goes, I thought I heard it reported that it would take a good year for them to even know if he was getting normal blood flow back in his hip?
If that's the case, let somebody else take that gamble.
Been hearing this for 40 years now and it has yet to happen. The Tom Brady's of the NFL will be obsolete the faster and faster the big guys on defense get.

No thanks. You dont start Smith. He’s not 27 year-old Drew Brees. He’s not Tom Brady in the middle of the greatest run in NFL franchise history. Theres no comparison there.
He’s not the future of this team. You’re not building a new team around him. If he doesnt want to retire he can sit on the bench and mentor The Future of the Franchise.
I would prefer him as a backup over drafting Tua, but he’s done as a starter here. This team needs to move forward. Building a team around an old and busted QB would be something I’d like to think the Redskins have learned, from vast experience, to stop doing.

You are correct sir. But isn't there some kind of personal connection between Snyder's son and Haskins. I could be mistaken about this.He didn’t stand in the way of Gruden moving on from RG3 when it needed to happen. Just sayin’...
