Free Agency, The Mock Drafts, 2016 (Continual Updates)
The official start of the 2016 NFL season is getting closer (March 9) and free agency is nearly upon us. Today we present our last mock before the new football season arrives and the mocks will return in earnest by mid March. After free agency settles down, we will have mocks that focus on no trades, trades, and are BGO member centric. We’ll even feature two or three mocks that are extraordinary. Scot McCloughan has said he would like to get fifteen picks if at all possible. BBQ thinks that is unrealistic, but we will delve into the unusual for the fun of it. Free agency could determine what happens in the draft and we’ll focus more on that in the coming weeks

Without any further delays, let’s take a look at the third mock for 2016.
Round One: A’Shawn Robinson, DE/DT, Alabama
One of the best defensive linemen to ever play for the perennial national title contender. A force for the SEC’s Crimson Tide. He can play inside or slide outside as a 3-4 end. A run stuffer. A pass rusher. Great attitude. A dominating force who can overwhelm an offensive line. Robinson is everything you could want in a defensive lineman and more.

Round Two: Tyler Boyd, WR, Pittsburgh
Do you need a receiver who is great on post routes? Do you need a receiver who is great on wide receiver screens? Do you need a receiver who can make difficult catches over the middle? Do you need a receiver who is superb on end arounds? Do you need a receiver who can gain major yards on quick receiver handoffs? Do you need a receiver who can line up behind the quarterback and run the ball with effectiveness once or twice a game? Do you need a receiver who can take the handoff then throw it down the field with accuracy? Tyler Boyd can do all that and then some. The All-ACC performer could have a career similar to that of another Pitt product, Larry Fitzgerald. The only thing that held Boyd back was mediocre quarterback play over the years.

Here is a little secret. BBQ believes that Jackson could be the best corner prospect in this draft and would be a huge steal for the Redskins. If the AAC standout starts to move up according to the pundits, he could receive a second round grade. Any higher? Not sure. Jackson has the overwhelming size that more teams covet. Very physical, but needs to be aware of personal foul penalties at the next level. Breaks quicker on the ball than any other corner that BBQ has seen in the last three drafts. Excellent closing speed. Totally frustrates quarterbacks and receivers alike.

Round Four: Jordan Howard, RB, Indiana
Indiana is known as a basketball mecca and the football team is something of an afterthought. The last few years Indiana has seen some good fortunes on the gridiron and Howard is a big reason for that buzz. Even with Tevin Coleman (now with the Atlanta Falcons), his backfield running mate last year, Howard was a running machine and still rushed for more than 1,500 yards. He is overlooked because of being in a lower tier program within the Big Ten, but has the size and strength to excel at the next level.

Round Five: Graham Glasgow, C/G, Michigan
Glasgow is an intriguing prospect who can play either left guard or center with superb effectiveness. He would likely be a third rounder (possibly second) if it wasn’t for a DUI conviction and a team suspension for similar behavior. In the past year, the Big Ten mauler has become a model citizen and had a great year on the gridiron. He more than held his own at the Senior Bowl as he handled elite defenders who will do well at the next level.

Round Six: Matt Ioannidis, DE, Temple
Ioannidis had a special season for the Owls, but he is a bit overlooked due to playing for a perennial doormat of the AAC. Not this past year – Temple had a great season and Matt Ioannidis was a big factor in that success. He has excellent size to go with a great attitude and possesses a tenacious motor. The first team all-conference standout added about twenty pounds of bulk and muscle in recent weeks. He can slide inside for certain defensive formations. Ioannidis could quickly be a rotational player and possibly a starter within a year or two.

Round Seven: Nate Sudfeld, QB, Indiana
The Redskins take another Hoosier in round seven, a project with some decent upside at the quarterback position. The fundamentally sound Sudfeld had a good senior season with nearly 3,200 yards passing. He tossed twenty-four touchdowns and just five interceptions. The numbers were twenty-one and nine for his junior campaign. He would obviously be a candidate for third string, but could quickly become a reliable backup within a year or two. The one negative would be that the 6’5”, 240 lb. Sudfeld floats his long passes a bit too much – something that should be easily corrected.

Round Seven: Antwaun Woods, DT, Southern Cal
The Redskins are looking to fortify their defensive line with talent and youth. Antwaun Woods would be a good add with the extra seventh rounder and could provide depth at defensive tackle. He had a down season in 2014, but came back to post respectable numbers in 2015. Woods didn’t set the PAC 12 on fire, but he was dependable and had a fine season. He is a career backup prospect in the NFL, but could likely put in fifteen or twenty plays a game. A good run stuffer. A good pass rusher. He won’t be a game changer, but is able to provide quality time as a substitute and as needed.
