What are you drinking?

I'm going to pay a visit to the brew store this weekend - if you were going to buy just 3 or 4 bottles of your favorite brew, what would your choices be?

"favorite" brew?? Is this a trick question? It's like being asked to pick your favorite child. I love them all, but differently. I like too many beers to declare a favorite plus, it really depends on the mood I'm in.

If you're in the mood for something hoppy, but perfectly balanced, you can't go wrong with Victory Hop Devil. Don't let the name put you off, there's definitely hops, but they're offset perfectly, with a good malt backbone.

I know that you stated "bottles", but if you're in the mood for something hoppy, but not balanced, (IMO), snag some Dale's Pale Ale.

If you want something on the dark side, Heavy Seas has a new "English Style" porter, "Deep Six" which is very good. Not sure what they mean by "English Style", (IMO, it has a flavor profile, similar to their Peg Leg Stout.

If you want something on the lighter side, but flavorful, I really, really like the Victory Prima Pils. So much so, that I just tapped a keg of it. For the keg rotation, I set out to find a flavorful, (but lower ABV), beer. My usual rotation is either Heavy Seas Loose Cannon, Victory Hop Devil or DuClaw Hellrazer. They're all good, but the ABV in them is all 6.7% or more. I tried a shit-ton of them, and it came down to Sierra Nevada Nooner and the Prima Pils. Prima Pils won. It fits the bill at 5.3% and delicious.

God help me, I have all of those in my fridge.....

Ranger IPA from New Belgium

I've got a keg of ruination
A growler of enjoy by
And 3 growlers of alpine Nelson

All free for tomorrow's fight party. I have to admit I've already tapped in to the ruination.

Here's what I brought home... I will post reviews as I work through them... ImageUploadedByTapatalk1425152071.725779.jpg

Sculpin amazing
Victory at sea..you could even age that
Hoppin frog...derek got me on that

Great divide!! Love the yeti!

Yep. Gonna do a quick workout, then Beer Vacation 2015 is over. Peruvian chicken on the grill tonight...

Wow - that Sculpin is good! Lots of hints of fruit, almost a little orange, plenty of hops but like you said, not bitter and very balanced. Best IPA I've ever had...

Hoppin' Frog Cafe Silk Porter = Amazing. 'Silk' is right. Coffee, chocolately goodness. I love a good porter. And this is a good porter.

I'm too busy hoppin' to think about it :)

Sculpin is pretty ****ing good but way too expensive for what it is

Very impressed with the Hoppin' Frog Porter. Wow!

My beer-related regret - I have no one to drink beer with. My wife won't imbibe, my brother is 40 minutes away, my neighbor is a Quaker. My daughter will drink with me if she's home, but that's rare so. So I drink alone if I drink at all. Is that wrong?

There is nothing wrong with drinking good beer alone, besides we are drinking beer with ya!

My son is one and my wife is pregnant.

We can drink online together or be like George Thuroughgood.

Thanks guys. :iloveyou:

Ballast Point 'Victory at Sea' = Winning. Vanilla Coffee porter is pretty amazing. I have tried to make coffee infused homebrews previously but it's tough to get the potent coffee taste this one has. I'm thinking adding more crushed beans, and then some more, followed by some more might be the trick. This is one delicious beer. Chicks would dig it. And then, they'd be hyper :)
