MMA: UFC, Strikeforce, etc.

Cowboy Cerrone is my favorite fighter...has been since his days at WEC. He lost that fight. He took the first round, but I didn't think the take down in the 2nd was enough to win him that round. He definitely lost the third.

I really thought it came down to the final round. Well...now Henderson knows what it's like to lose a fight that everyone else thought you might have won. He lost to Frankie Edgar but was given the title.

The fact they even tried to call in unanimous was a joke.

This McGregor dude is annoying. He's good but I really hope he gets knocked out

Yeah, MacGregor is annoying, but I don't like Jose Aldo. Unfortunately, the talk from MacGregor earned him a title fight when Frankie Edgar's annihilation of Cub Swanson should have earned him another shot at the title...many feel he won against Aldo anyway.

Frankie Edgar, most disrespected UFC Fighter in history.

Looks like rumble "beat the stuffing" out of Gus.

Yeah, Gus needed to land a few more stiff jabs to keep Johnson at bay...but his relentless pursuit was too much for Gus to keep him off.

Jon Jones needs to come back in top form, he needs to get his jab and kicks working or Johnson will knock him out too. He is likely going to be the strongest light heavyweight Jones has faced thus far.

Not sure how much of the card you watched last night, but there were a few quick stoppages.

Didn't see any of it because of the party. Can't really put on ufc with toddlers all around

Been a rough week...CHOOOOOOOCH!!!!

Both Silva and Diaz failed drug tests. Diaz for weed and silva for roids.

Ben Henderson just made a strong showing in a move up in weight. Damn good fight against a fighter you could tell the UFC was trying to promote!

Why havn't they reversed Silva's win against Diaz, after he tested for being juiced up for the fight ?
They've done it when other fighters were guilty of the same thing

Could have something to do with the fact Diaz tested positive for an illegal substance, too.

they also didn't strip Jones' win so it would be even more of a problem.

Whatever sells tickets/pay-per-view...they don't care about anything else.

Just imagine the millions they'd have lost had they suspended the fight between Diaz and Silva?

Offsetting penalties ? The play doesn't count, and you have to do it over, right ?
If 2 opponents break the rules, they should both be punished equally.
I'm pretty sure there was a UFC scenario before, where both fighters failed tests, and it was ruled a No Contest.
Also, I don't think weed is considered a PED, which is much more clearly cheating.

they also didn't strip Jones' win so it would be even more of a problem.

That was a different scenario for 2 reasons

1) It wasn't proven that Jones had the substance in him during the fight. He failed the test outside of the time parameters of the fight.
2) As with Diaz and his weed, I don't think they consider cocaine a "performance enhancer" as they do, with the 2 substances Silva had in his body.

Does degree matter when the big picture is that it's illegal? They all broke the rules for being in the ufc and should all be stripped

You're looking for justice in a world lacking integrity. UFC is entertaining, but if you're looking for the "just" thing to happen instead of the money making decision to happen, don't hold your breath.

And there was no one biting, but what I saw Benson Henderson do this past weekend was as impressive as anything I have seen in a while. He was clearly outsized by a bigger fighter, climbing up in weight class after only 4 weeks rest. He stood tough through 3 rounds taking some solid strikes. He stood tall and held his ground looking for the right moment to let his experience set in to take control of the fight and took advantage of it when the opportunity arose. All the while, they were touting Thatch as this dynamic up and comer, clearly pushing this kid. You could see it in the promos leading up to the fight, you could hear it in the announcer's voices. The whole time Stann is cheering for Thatch. Henderson didn't leave it in the ring like he did against Cerrone last month. That's why I keep watching. I understand there are some questionable decisions being made by Dana and the Zuffas, but every once in a while you're treated to a great fight like I saw in the main event Saturday Night.

plus, Dana White is a scumbag. He is ONLY concerned about his pockets and his ego. If he likes you (Jones, Silva) he will let shit slide. But if he doesn't like you (Ortiz, Diaz) you will get called out and publicly humiliated by him at every chance.

I have zero respect for him now. Cowboy shouldn't have been allowed to fight so soon after just having fought out of safety for the fighter. He allowed GSP to take 18 months off but when GSP said he was having "head problems" Dana said that he "owed him" for the time off and needed to get in there and fight. Who does that? A man says he is having brain and memory issues and you tell him he owes you?!!

Like Brian said, the UFC is very entertaining....but very corrupt and favor driven as well.
