Something Positive

Nice! I'm jealous. An Alaskan cruise is something I've always dreamed of. Have a blast, man.

Thank you. I definitely plan on having a fun time.

I will say this--packing for this cruise is unlike any other. It's strange. Like really weird.

Instead of packing bathing suits and shorts, I'm packing winter coats and gloves. The pool might be empty on this ship. There won't be a steel drum band greeting passengers aboard. Getting on a cruise to go into cold weather to see glaciers is definitely not the norm.....but people seem to rave about it.

Yes, it was Vegas or the Bahamas. In short, neither ended up happening. I have been to Vegas ten times or so, and to the Bahamas probably twenty times or more. But each time has only been over a three day weekend--nothing longer.

My gf was furious about the thought of me in Vegas with my brother. She was so vocal and unpleasant about it, that it completely turned me off on taking her to the Bahamas instead. So I passed on both.

Well at least it'll make this trip that much sweeter

my son flies in tomorrow...he gets to meet his little brother for the first time. Plus his uncle flies in with his kid and he gets to meet them, too.

to say this family is excited to be together is an understatement. I doubt I will be able to sleep.

The beer list is AMAZING for the big day...a few of the high up brewers at these local places came out and gave me 5 gallon kegs to put on tap...I am STOKED!

Sorry to hear life has been so tough McD5... Life has a way at throwing you some balance sometimes and it looks like you got it! Good for you and your brother, I hope you have an awesome time! There are very few circumstances that would lead to me getting on a cruise ship but you found one of them. Hope you post some pics! Have fun

So I have had an amazing time since relocating to Florida again... Have had many opportunities to see many old dear friends and I'm taking all the time I can to do so. Yes I'm even "dating" one of those old friends now too... Haha. Life is strange and life is good. I'll be over doing a trip to the bahamas for a couple weeks with one of my new clients' boats. Hope everyone is well, see you in a few!

Life is really ****ing good

Dr Dre just sold Beats Headphones to apple for $3 billion dollars! BILLION!

No matter how stupid your think your invention may be...somebody might like it!

I'm going to log off. I'll be back come training camp or preseason.

Be good, everyone and enjoy your lives!

My son is eating food now and drinking water a little at a time.

I'm so freaking proud to be this little dudes dad.

And my other son is graduating from HS tomorrow. Unreal

took my lil man to the pool for his first time swimming...he got all kinds of scared but looked at me and when he saw me smiling lit up. He knows I will be there for him and nothing bad will ever happen to him if I can help it. I love that...

he is eating baby food now and sitting up on his own. His big ol head still causes him to fall to one side or the other but he has the breathing part down and starting to get the balance. I also decided last night when giving him a bat that I would fill it all the way up to the top (his baby bath, not a full tub) and just let him do whatever he wanted. he went bonkers in it...

My friend on Facebook showed me this website. Its a free site for learning a different language if you want. I am currently learning Spanish all over again.

Have a great day, BGO!!

Started "running" again and I can feel the anger and frustration just melt away. I am the kind of person that has so much built up energy that if I dont release it after a few days I get irritable and become a prick.

Hoping that as a family we can start all walking at nights and having fun.

Mike, thanks for always adding more great positives to this thread. Makes me smile every time.

Thanks, man. You started it....

Certainly don't want to NOT be positive in the positivity thread - but I can tell you that there's some idealistic stuff in those comments that jumped out at me - the other *person* has to want to do those same things. My mindset may be jaded and beaten down from some stuff I'm going through personally, but unfortunately if both parties don't fully commit to all those things, it's almost meaningless. I do agree that you have to start with how you live yourself every day, what your own priorities, actions, and behaviors are - it has to start there. But the rest of it is out of your control. My thought reading his comments was that to a certain degree, a lot of what he said was 'wishful thinking' - you can't, no matter how good you are to someone else, and no matter how focused, make them continue to love you. It just doesn't work that way. All you can do is keep the person you love at the center of your life, thoughts, and actions, love them the best you know how and then some, and hope for the best.

You can be a good guy without the other person being good as well. You are in control of your own life and nobody can make you act or feel any way if you dont let them.

I know that it takes 2 to tango, but this is good advice for trying and to help maintain. Of course nobody can do everything on that list but it is a good list. It has good things you can do with your mate and with your mate. It doesn't all have to be accomplished in order for it to work, but it does help to try and hit as many as you can.

No argument brother. I'm a big believer that you own your part of a relationship. But there are issues that can come up, surface over time that don't seem to have much to do with effort, and can drive people apart no matter how hard either work not to let it happen. Love is both the most amazing human experience ever, and possibly the most tortuous.

well, as a newlywed I am still like a shiny penny. I figure if I keep waxing it, she will stay shiny for longer =)

and then she'll be too old to leave

Every relationship is different - people will give you advice along the way - and my advice is mostly to ignore it. We are all biased by what we've experienced (in both good ways and bad). You appear to have an incredibly tight relationship with your wife. What better place can you start than having your best friend as a spouse. Go Mike!
