What's for Dinner?

Stir fry with some locally grown sirloin, green beans, asparagus, tomatoes, bean sprouts, baby corn, onion, and garlic over rice.

Not a dinner food per say, but a great healthy snack for game time is raw jicama sliced like french fries, drenched in lime juice, and sprinkled with chili powder. I munched a bunch during last weeks game, and will continue till we loose one :)

One of the few vegetables I have never tried...sounds right up my alley though...

I'm a little late considering it was last night, but I had my new found brother and his family, and my sister and her family over, and we had a feast. Burgers, hot dogs, romaine, avocados, and lobster tails on the grill with baked beans, macaroni salad a few other things I know I'm forgetting and some dessert. Hell of a good time, I haven't smiled so long or big in years. I was more than thrilled to find out y brother shares my same warped sense of humor :D

They're also good grated, mixed with onions and made into hash browns. The only other way I've had jicama is in a slaw-gotta try Miles lime juice/chili powder thing, that does sound good.

Doing a black bean chicken chili as we speak. I am a chili snob - but this will be good :)

That looks very good! At a restaurant I worked at in South Florida, we had butternut squash bisque on the menu during the season, usually October through January...it was my favorite! Add in all those goodies and my mouth is watering!

I was really happy with how it came out, and surprised because I was exhausted and a little flustered while making it during the game yesterday. It just wasn't looking very good, but once I tried some it looked much better :)

Doing Eastern NC-style barbecue/pulled pork on the grill. 10-12 hours from now, will be enjoying the hell out of it :)

Thawing 2 porterhouse steaks. Some may call it blasphemy, but I am going to chop them up and make soft tacos out of them. To be honest, they weren't the best cuts of meat even though I bragged about them last week.

Had some leftover BBQ'd chicken, so chopped it up, made an onion-pepper-mayo-BBQ sauce dressing and had BBQ chicken salad for lunch. Better than I expected actually.

Rotisserie chicken tonight with sweet peas and a small salad. Dessert will be vanilla ice cream (almonds tossed in) with a load of fresh blueberries (picked this morning from the last of this year's harvest) and craisins.

Mike, just use a medium low heat when cooking them and chop them into much smaller chunks. I use butter to coat the pan and add sliced onion with salt and pepper. I usually just put the potatoes on first before I do anything else and give them time to get going.

Made myself a turkey burger for lunch, pretty good. Just put some spices in it for seasoning (paprika, cumin, s&p). First time I've had a turkey burger, but it was good. Anybody have any recommendations as to what goes well with a turkey burger (either toppings or mixed in)?

Never had a turket burger! Any good? :instigate:

Why did you change my post? Jerk.

Let's see, I quoted your post at 1:24 pm and it shows that you edited the post at 1:35 pm. Hmm...

My wife made me one of my favorite breakfasts for my birthday this morning! Sausage and eggs with home fries and a piece of rye toast, a glass of OJ and glass of cold milk with a nice warm cup of coffee after. She sent me to bed last night with a real treat too...
