I have. It's good, but not one of my favorites. I would much rather have a scrapple, egg and cheese sandwich. :)

My favorite dish with prosciutto was that same restaurant that had the spaetzle.

They took a 16 ounce bone in pork chop, butterflied it and made a Pork Chop Parmigiana. Then they placed a thin slice of prosciutto over the cheese right before they baked it.

Oh man was that a good meal!

Oh! And don't call me Extreme! :laugh:

Made cheesecake this afternoon. My 11 year old has some sort of "Pie Day" tomorrow. As a side note, I have no idea what Pie Day is, but I am sending in a recommendation to my corporate office that we adopt this idea, and do so quickly.

Cheesecake, while not technically a pie, is close, and the teacher said she would be fine with that.

And I make a HELL of a cheesecake. I don't like to brag, but... well, it's good. This one will have a slight orange taste to it, very subtle but good.

Anyway, contemplating having the extra one I made for the fam for dinner. It's got calcium, right? Can't be THAT bad for you.
 
When have the time, nothing is better for breakfast than biscuits and gravy.

I also like salted fish for breakfast, but this is more of a local thing for those of us that grew up in a fishing community.
 
Anyone else here a fan of brussels sprouts?? I've been eating them 3+ days a week lately and loving them. Cut them in half, mix with a little olive oil and pepper, and bake at 400 until slightly browned. The other night I had those, plus roasted/mashed acorn squash and some roasted carrots. My oh my it was delish!! Then I had that mix + homemade black bean soup for lunch the next day. I felt like a million bucks! haha
 
I've been a fan of brussels sprouts for years. When kids were young we called them "muscle sprouts" to get them to eat them. It worked...lol
 
I eat them all the time, I was even one of those rare weird kids that ate them when I was little. I usually steam them and throw some homemade fireroasted garlic butter sauce on them, but I've grilled some (halved, face down) and basted them with a combination of lime juice, olive oil and parmesan, and they're pretty badass.
 
I found this recipie for brussel sprouts online-tried it and now its my preferred way to cook them.

SAUTéED BRUSSELS SPROUTS (serves 2)

Ingredients:

About 600g Brussels sprouts (about 21 oz.)
4 shallots
2 cloves of garlic, crushed
olive oil
vegetable stock cube/powder

Method:

Clean the Brussels sprouts and cut each one vertically in half. Finely chop the shallots and crush the garlic.

In a large flat-bottomed frying pan, heat enough oil to cover the base of the pan. Place the Brussels sprouts in the pan, cut side down, in a single layer. Scatter the chopped shallots and garlic over the sprouts.

When the sprouts are just starting to caramelise (you will smell them), turn them over and cook for another 5 minutes or so.

Add enough water to cover the base of the pan with about 1mm of water and crumble half a vegetable stock cube into the pan (I used Maggi basil bouillon cubes). Give the pan a good stir and then allow to steam-fry until all the liquid has cooked off and the sprouts are tender. Serve hot.

I used onions in place of the shallots and both the smell and taste were wonderful-none of the bitterness peoiple usually associate with b. sprouts at all. Here's the page where I found the recipie.

I love brussel sprouts too. I'll give that recipe a try serv. I like them even simply boiled with some white vinegar and salt, so I have no doubt I'll love them 'serv-style'.
 
Chicken breast. Steamed broccoli. Green peas. Pineapple slices. Have enough left over for lunch tomorrow.
 
Catfish chowder. And it was delicious. Went fishing yesterday and caught a truckload of catfish. AFTER filleting them, we had 72 lbs of meat. Not a bad day :D

And before anyone asks, I caught them with a rod and reel, at a little spot I know of ;) Been fishing there 20 years, and nobody else knows it exists. Caught a 66lb cat 5 years ago, and didn't file for a citation for 2 reasons. 1, I don't care about citations. 2, I'll be damned if I'm telling everyone where I get a winter's freezer full of free dinner :laugh:
 
Sauteed some chicken tenderloins with lemon juice, thyme and rosemary and topped them with feta and black olives. Cubed some potatoes and oven roasted them in olive oil with lemon juice, rosemary, salt and pepper. Also cooked up some garlic green beans.

I fix these on a regular basis, but never tried using lemon juice. Normally just olive oil, garlic, rosemary, salt & pepper.

Will have to give the lemon juice a try. Thanks.
 
On the menu tonight:

Peruvian Chicken (grilled beercan chicken style) = heavenly
Homemade manhattan clam chowder
Roasted diced potatoes with garlic salt, black pepper, lemon juice, and a little olive oil.

With all the football I'll be watching, I'll need my strength.
 
I made some homemade pizzas tonight. Good ****. Not that store bought crap crust either, made from scratch crust and sauce - the only way to do it.

I tried Asiago cheese mixed with the mozzarella this time, but I think I won't be doing that again. it was good, it's just way better with mozzarella alone.

Those of you who live in DC - if you haven't been to Rasika and you like Indian food, you should go as soon as possible. Went Sunday night and it was amazing! Get the crispy spinach (Palak Chaat) and the Chicken Tikka Masala, the best I've ever tasted. Had a friend tell me the Samosa Chaat is also heavenly.

Blasphemy. Olives are the fruit of the gods :laugh: I put them on things they don't belong on. I even joined a local grocer's facebook page just to bitch at them for carrying 27 facings of store brand olives, but not Mario olives (the number 1 brand by about a 90% margin)
