Winter Weather Forecast/Thread, 2013-2014

Hey BB? When is Spring coming?

You've probably heard that a warm up is coming and it is true. For the lower and mid South, the warmer temps are just beginning. By next week, most the of the eastern two-thirds of the nation will be warmer. The worst of winter is over for all locations south of the Mason-Dixon. Sure, there will be a few chilly spells before Spring is in full swing, but the worst is over.

For the northern plains, Great Lakes, and New England - the worst will be over by next week. There will be colder spells, but nothing brutal. More snow will come, but nothing like we have seen in recent days. So get out and enjoy the snow before it is gone. In July, you will be wishing for a little bit of this weather. :)

yesterday my dog dug a hole to take a dump. he's a boarder collie, so a foot+ of snow is pretty tall for him.

i was quite impressed at how seriously he took his comfort while taking a dump.

today, he took a running leap, head first, into that hole.

now finding myself suddenly not so impressed.

idiot.
When we got 11+ inches a few weeks ago, my Border Collie went out the door full speed and really low to the ground like they do in full sprint, and just bulldozed a path right through it. Then she jumped around barking at the snow that was falling, and jumping up to eat it, then came in. She refused to take a shit anywhere but on the deck

Almost 80 degrees here today. I busted out shorts.

This winter is one of the worst I can remember. With all the snow and crazy cold up north, we have more tourists then normal down here. When there's a 20 minute wait at the McDonalds, you know it's bad.

If it's tourist season, why can't we shoot them ?

Ha! We used to gauge our season's in the restaurant biz down there by the weather up north.

They called for 3-5" of snow and we got 8-10" last night. Gotta love this winter, it is supposed to warm up Thursday and then drop back to frigged temps by the end of the weekend.

Temps around 70 today. Tomorrow night and into Sunday - a major ice/sleet storm. This system is going to affect the Mississippi Valley region, the Ohio Valley, the nation's mid-section, the mid-Atlantic (more to the north), and the northeast with a lot of ice and snow.

Too much rain is usually not good. But you need it out there and even though it is causing some problems, the moisture is sorely needed.

Just shoot me now please. Ice, then 8-12 inches of snow? BB, do I need to sacrifice a chicken or something? Help me out here. I can dress the neighbor's cat up like a chicken, really. It'd be no problem.

If you sacrifice the chicken, post some pics. Somehow, I don't think it will help you for this storm. The good news is that this is the last big system for areas south of the Mason-Dixon, the lower Ohio, Mississippi, and Missouri valleys, and the southern plains. Some nice temps are coming in about ten to fourteen days, then more seasonable temps take over.

Really feeling for Mike and those in SoCal. It is better to have these rains with the mudslides and flooding than none at all.

We're expecting an inch of ice (possibly more), then an inch of sleet on top of it, then we add about two inches of snow on top of that mixture - ugh. Wind chills of well below zero tonight and much of tomorrow here in the mid south. We may finally go above freezing by Wednesday.
