I’d love to have deli slicer but I get the eye roll and we don’t have room for anymore crap you hardly use!!
 
Dinner last night was a simple meal. Got a gift of Eastern Shore little nick clams from my bro - so clams, water, white wine, chicken broth, minced garlic, a few red pepper flakes and butter in a pot - cook 'em till they open. Put them in a serving bowl and pour the "juice" over them. Add a salad and a hearty bread for dipping in the juice and we were good.

Man - what a gift - sounds amazing!
 
I love clams and have been meaning to do them again. All this talk here convinced me to do tuna steaks for dinner. Currently looking for an apropriate sauce to put on it and yes it will be covered in sesame seeds.
 
I only like tuna as Nigiri sushi. Cannot stand it cooked.

I usually go to the farmer's market for their fresh remoulade (sp?) sauce...it's fantastic. Creamy with a decent kick to it.
I just pulled it out of the freezer the other day & didn't think ahead. :rolleyes:

I tend towards this view as a Spicy Tuna Roll is one of God's greatest gifts to humanity. But seared properly, a tuna steak can be pretty damned good. As for 'sauces' folks are talking about, I would be curious to hear about them - but they sort of imply a tuna steak that is over-cooked since one done perfectly doesn't need a sauce.

Amen!
After it's done I'll squeeze some lemon juice over it, or a sweeter teriyaki based store bought sauce, like Mr Yoshidas, Bachan's, or Very Very Teriyaki and Iuse them sparingly.
Sometimes I'll sprinkle a little Old Bay on Tuna,(or swordfish), sear it on a screaming hot grill and serve up a little cocktail sauce e on the side...

I'll have to look for that. I was looking for a cream sauce and hoped to find a bottled variety at the store. I did make the tuna and it was very good. But when I was done and facing dishes I noted how carry out is just so so much easier. And most of the work was the cream sauce I made.

Edit: Since it's December and there are no farmers market I found a bottle on Amazon and will roll with that. Thanks for this.

I have weird tastes. I don't really enjoy a sandwich made at home, a ham and cheese just doesn't do it for me anymore. But I also can eat and maybe even enjoy cheap ass frozen dinners. Salesbury Steak, that crap is OK for lunch. That includes the frozen pot pies you can get for cheap.

This is a long way of saying I'm sure I would enjoy your pot pie.
 
I am definitely not a food snob. If it tastes good, it is good. I mean, I was raised on fried bologna and onion sandwiches.

I enjoy the process of cooking... coming up with an idea, shopping for the ingredients, prepping it all... as much as I ever do the 'eating' of it.

Having been in the food/bev biz for 40 years, I know how to make cheap shit good.
Frozen $1 pizza? I got that. Add whatever you've got.
And sometimes, you just need a $1 pot pie. I love them. They're actually half decent in the mic with the way they make 'em now.

For a while, Oscar Mayer made Jalapeno Bologna...my favorite nasty thing. Can't find it anymore.
Fried bologna on a biscuit is a decent redneck breakfast.
And you can find good frozen biscuits (Mary B's) in your grocer's freezer.
