I'm not a huge fan of cream sauces, do you know if a bruschetta type sauce would work good with it?

I bought a mortar and pestle. Now I have to wait for the seasoning process so I can use it tomorrow. This is one of those times where waiting for something drives me nuts.

The main reason I got it is because I make a killer guacamole, and it would be so much better using that instead of a potato masher like I've been doing. But for the dinner I mentioned, I'm making naan bread, and covering it with a layer of pesto I'll be making with the mortar and pestle, then some slow cooked chicken and roasted garlic, yellow squash, red onions and zucchini. And it's going to be awesome. And now that I have one, I will find every excuse I can to use itWhat you going to use it for?

Well after just finishing the seasoning process for the mortar and pestle, I am full of regret. I can hardly move my arms or hands. Seriously, I have never had a more brutal workout, it was insane. I don't like food processors, that's the only reason I've never gotten one. I'm way too hands on with my cooking, but I think it makes it better. I have a sweet set of Zwilling J.A. Henckels knives, and they get great mileage and never go dull. I honestly have fun with it, and I wouldn't get that same sense of enjoyment out of a food processor I don't think.Mortar and pestle to make pesto? Are you a sadomasochist? Lol. Get a food processor, man. Best money you'll ever spend.
As far as guac, why use it for that? Just curious... You'd be the first person I've ever hard using a mortar and pestle for guac, and I'm marrying a California girl and practically live in Mexico.

I'm in Asheville, NC for a weekend beekeeping course - man, what a happening town. Went out to dinner last night with a couple friends and we hit up a place that came highly recommended 'The Wicked Weed' (microbrewery and restaurant). Had a Russian Black IPA while I waited for my friends to get there. For dinner I had the best pastrami sandwich and home fries of my life (I mean, they were unbelievably good). Sampled a few other dishes, and everything was just outstanding. WITH a 2nd IPA the tab was $14.00! Really amazing. If you are ever in this neck of the woods, I would highly recommend it. We really should start a restaurant recommendation thread![]()

Boone, who wins in a BBQ contest, in your opinion ?
Carolina...or KC ?
Carolina. And it's not close. But I'm biased![]()
Memphis is the BBQ capital of the world.
