What makes your all-time BEST CANDY list?

I'm old school. Hell, I'm old. So some of my favorites are as much about sentiment and memories as the candy itself.

I'll throw a few out.

1. Tootsie Rolls. Just damn good and a unique taste all their own. Later on, there were fruity versions, but I'm talking about your basic classic chocolate tootsie roll. Hard to beat.

2. Twizzlers. I was always fascinated by licorice (not the black kind, although there's a place for that too). Whether licorice whips, licorice string, whatever form it came in. Twizzlers were my go to movie candy. Not only could you eat the entire package which almost certainly left you bloated and sugar-toxic, but you could drink your giant soda through one too. Winning.

3. Peanut M&Ms. Just because. Delicious requiring no explanation.

4. Pez. Coolest candy delivery system. Ever. If you could only pick one food for the rest of your life? No question. Cherry Pez.

5. Atomic Fire Ball. You could buy them for a penny when I was a kid at the old fashioned hardware store a bike ride from my house. You could pluck a fermented dill pickle out of a giant barrel, and pull an ice cold coke from a machine (surely one of the most satisfying sounds of youth, the 'clunk' of that coke coming free.. Back to candy favorites...

I could go on and on, but I just wanted to get things started... let's hear from you all...
I know taste is a personal choice but sorry Pez the candy on your Mt Rushmore? I mean the dispenser was cool and all but come on Boone you needed to up your game here. I don't know Twizzlers well but isn't all licorice black?

For me Reese's Peanut Butter Cups has always been in a class by itself. I heard it tops the list in polls for like 20 years. After that in no particular order:

Baby Ruth
Payday
Snickers
Mr Goodbar

Honorable Mention: M&M Peanut. But only the Peanut.

Oh wow, I'm probably going to put a very British spin on this.

My top 5

1) Strawberry sherbets

2) Rhubarb and Custard

3) Strawberry Cables/Pencils

4) Jazzies (milk or white choc, I'm not fussy)

5) Strawberry milkshakes

There's a theme in there, I really like Strawberry. LOL

And in case you don't know what they are...

Strawberry milkshake is literally the only one of these I have even heard of. Interesting list, I'm sure you were bummed every Haloween at the lack of strawberry candy in your bag.

Well, to be honest - I was never a huge candy guy. Give me a pretzel, dill pickle, and a beer any day over something sweet :)

Pez is all about the uniqueness of the presentation, I'll admit that. And Twizzlers is probably nostalgia (my go to movie candy as a kid).

i,m a diabetic now and can,t eat sweets much sadly.
Yeah I'm there too. Russell Stovers sugarless candy tastes just like real candy. But not the peanut butter cups, they aren't close to Reeses. But I'm talling you the pecan ones are fantastic, the mints tasted just like Thin Mint. Available on Amazon.

Every sugarless candy I have tried has given me serious GI upset (spare the details). I once made the mistake of eating a bag of sugarless Gummy Bears. I had to stop mid-trip and spend an hour in the bathroom.

It's not the sweets that are the problem for blood sugars. It's more about cutting out the breads and carbs. I learned this one too late.

I just had some dark chocolate covered almonds while putting the Thanksgiving dinner charcuterie board together. They are moving up my to 5 list!

It's a combination, they both raise blood sugar. A bagel generates more sugar than a bowl of Frosted Flakes but sweets are a big deal too. In a cruel twist I also learned fruit and more so fruit juice is a bad culprit as well. I was thankful that peaches are on the low end, pineapple and watermelon, which I can live without, are at the top.

Might I suggest you probably should not have eaten the entire bag? That sounds miserable.

Never heard of chess pie so I looked it up. I want a piece of that pie now. It looks fantastic.
Yeah I'd never heard of it either, looks to be a southern thing. We were in Tennessee and we saw all these signs for fried apple pie. Never heard of that either, turns out it's like a Hostess Apple Pie only better I assume.

Yep, tropical drinks are a no no, unfortunately.
