I'm old school. Hell, I'm old. So some of my favorites are as much about sentiment and memories as the candy itself.
I'll throw a few out.
1. Tootsie Rolls. Just damn good and a unique taste all their own. Later on, there were fruity versions, but I'm talking about your basic classic chocolate tootsie roll. Hard to beat.
2. Twizzlers. I was always fascinated by licorice (not the black kind, although there's a place for that too). Whether licorice whips, licorice string, whatever form it came in. Twizzlers were my go to movie candy. Not only could you eat the entire package which almost certainly left you bloated and sugar-toxic, but you could drink your giant soda through one too. Winning.
3. Peanut M&Ms. Just because. Delicious requiring no explanation.
4. Pez. Coolest candy delivery system. Ever. If you could only pick one food for the rest of your life? No question. Cherry Pez.
5. Atomic Fire Ball. You could buy them for a penny when I was a kid at the old fashioned hardware store a bike ride from my house. You could pluck a fermented dill pickle out of a giant barrel, and pull an ice cold coke from a machine (surely one of the most satisfying sounds of youth, the 'clunk' of that coke coming free.. Back to candy favorites...
I could go on and on, but I just wanted to get things started... let's hear from you all...
