Offensive line is an absolute mess and that’s just the tip of the iceberg …

John Keim called it an organizational failure. And he's right.

I still don't think we've set him up to succeed as an offense. He absolutely had a failing grade today, but I still think the offensive scheme is not what it needs to be for ANY Qb to be effective right now.

You're missing the point....Rivera and Turner have no faith in Wentz's decision making. That's why the play-calling was so conservative today.

In must-pass situations, they know Wentz is going to make bad mistakes....just like he did on that 3rd and 8 pass late in the 4th quarter today. Wentz stared down his receiver like a first year rookie, yet again, and he was easily picked off.

Sorry, but Wentz is done as a starting QB. But he is going to keep playing, because Rivera is too proud to admit how badly he fucked up bringing Wentz here. This team may not win another game as long as Wentz is QB.

before you get on your pedestal, I'll get ahead of it.

Today was bad for Wentz... very bad.

I still think we're forcing him to do things that MOST NFL QBs would struggle doing. We're not adjusting correctly.. I don't think we're truly giving him the ability to change things a the line of scrimmage. I think we're playing reactive offensive instead of aggressive. The run game was rolling in the 1st half, and it completely fizzled in the 2nd.

Wentz bears a large part of the burden, and he appears to be regressing. I still think he has the ability to win football games, because I've seen countless guys come here and lose... at some point it's not all about the guy throwing the football.

There is no pedestal to get on. I'm saying that Wentz is finished as starting QB in the NFL. And I've said that since the Jacksonville game with the two bad INTs and the multiple inaccurate throws.

I'm just stating the obvious, I deserve no credit for it. It's like stating that the sky is blue.

lol i agree with you and you find a reason to argue with me... you're fun

You are just as bad as Scott Turner is when reading the flow of the game.
They have to be conservative because the Oline Ron built can't pass protect.
The Cowboys got pressure rushing three linemen today. Three.

Patrick Mahomes couldn't play behind this line.

Don't get me wrong,I don't want to see Wentz anymore. Don't want to see Heinickie or Howell get killed either.

I'm not saying Wentz is an all pro, but i don't think we're doing anyone any favors.

Good coaches scheme their team to set them up for success.. We're not doing that. We're not scheming guys open, we're constantly asking them to go up and make plays. When we trust our playmakers to make plays around the line of scrimmage, they do it. As Mike pointed out in chat, even on the TD (which was an elite throw again), 2 receivers ran into each other. This is happening by design. Turner is so horned up for crossing patterns, we're drawing secondary players closer to the ball.

If you say so, dude. You can give Wentz great protection and he is still going to make horrendous mistakes.

Just like against the Jaguars with those 2 INTs in the 4th quarter that almost resulted in an unbelievable loss. Just like on that 3rd and 8 INT in the 4th quarter today. Stared down his receiver, yet again. That was all on Wentz, not the offensive line.

I disagree. Washington ran the ball plenty in the first half and they were actually winning.

You have to take the ball out of Wentz's hands if you want to win. It's that simple.

If Washington passed more today, they would have lost even worse.

They adjusted to the run and we didn't adjust to that.

Wentz held the ball too long and threw some god awful passes, but the run game was gone in the second half.

Where did I say we needed to pass more?

We don't have the horses on the OL to run a pass heavy attack currently. THAT is what's obvious. I don't know if Wentz would play better if the protection was there. I suspect he would, but he's not getting any protection and our OC seems unable to call an entire game that recognizes they can't protect him.

We are a decent rushing team, but there's really no effective passing attack. Once it's obvious you aren't a risk to throw anything but screen passes, and decent DC is going to stack the box and force you to go back to the air. That's what happened.

This idea that it's not a team sport and your QB - good or bad - is the sole factor that determines the outcome, that's just false. We played decent defense today, but it's not enough. As I said in the podcast this week, an inability of all 3 units to show up on the same day is going to result in a lot of losing. And I'm not sure in the case of the offense that it's even about 'showing up'. We are talent bereft other than the skill positions, and there are issues there too. Not sure how you fix that in-season.

You talked about "scheming guys open". That sounds like passing more to me.

the thread is about Wentz... the QB... who throws the football

and as Mike said, Dallas adjusted to a successful running game and took it away in the 2nd half. Turner failed to adjust and essentially just started guessing and hoping.

If we want to continue talking about Wentz, let's move it to the Week 4 thread.

Yet Gibson and Robinson had several nice runs today. In fact, that was about the only success that we had on offense. So I don't buy that. If we had cut down on the offensive penalties today, the running game would have been more successful.

We don't have the horses for a passing game, either....because we don't have a reliable QB.

This is really a chicken/egg argument.

We can't adjust and get a passing game going because our OL sucks.

We can't get a play that needs developing because Wentz won't roll out or get rid of the ball quick enough.

That grounding call was a perfect example. He should have gotten rid of that ball long before he was running for his life.

Against the two teams that are allowing 27 or 28 points per game in JAX and DET Wentz put up decent stats. Against the two teams with a bit better defenses in Philly and Dallas Wentz was largely unproductive.

Wentz would be more effective in a 1980’s style Gibbs offense with max pro and pro bowl receivers on the outside.

His lack of mobility and average release make him a bad fit for today’s faster and more pass focused game plans to deal with defenses that have linebackers that run 4.4 or 4.5

He is playing in the wrong era.
