Watch Felix Baumgartner's 23 Mile Freefall Live

Most humans would be frozen and unable to act in that situation. It takes a special bravery to be able to ignore everything your senses are telling you and make that leap. Wow.
I about threw up when I saw the camera angle of him on the ledge looking down on Earth. Fortunately I was able to keep my brunch down and just screamed instead. Unbelievable. And my parents thought I gave them grey hair!

Shoot, I'd probably be the same way, just going to the open door of a skydiving plane. Part of me wants to try skydiving for the first time, but there's another part of me that would probably cause me to freeze up in shock, when it comes time to stand on the edge of that open plane and prepare to launch by body into a free fall. I can't even keep from getting sick on rollercoasters, so I think I'd pass out on a sky jump. Yes, you can call me a wimp.

Who here has jumped out of a plane? I did it. Most thrilling thing I have ever done!

13,500 ft to 5,000 ft in ~60 seconds of free fall in excess of 120 mph! I know it doesn't compare to what Felix did, but it was awesome nonetheless!

Never skydived, but I have spie-rigged - hanging below a helicopter on a line moving at altitude at 100 mph. Now THAT is fun.

Yeah Boone, I would definitely lose my lunch if I did that! I almost blew when I jumped. But! I would definitely want to do that!

Mike, that is horrifying! Wanna do it again? ;)

Being a larger guy, they charge you by the pound for anything over around 225 or so. Eff that! I will wait until I drop some more weight.

I did and it was tandem. free fall was amazing but when he pulled the chute I slipped all the way to the end of the safety cable and almost came out.

killed any and every bit of excitement.

Wait, WHAT? That sounds horrifying. What do you mean, slipped? Like out of the tandem harness? Holy ****!

One time a bunch of my surfer friends decided to go jump, because they just wanted to get away. I went with them for the ride, but I had no intention of actually jumping, it wasn't really my thing.

When we were up in the air, my buddy started running his mouth trying to sound all tough and philosophical, then jumped out laughing and just left me there. So I'm sitting there in the plane all by myself with no chute looking like a bitch, and I was pissed.

But, I couldn't just stay there and not jump. I mean, they had Tyler and I had no idea where she was. I knew the only chance I'd have of finding her was if I jumped out (without a chute mind you) and just tried my ass off to get to Bodhi and grab onto him and pull the cord. Luckily, I was able to catch him. But by the time I was able to pull the cord, we were too close to the ground, and I destroyed my knee on the landing.

:)

....Oh, and Tyler was fine. Rosie didn't hack her up like I expected him to.

As I look back on it, standing at the door of the plane was nothing. It was the ride up. The anticipation was the worst, but my buddy whose idea it was to go in the first place, who was talking all sorts of smack on the drive up, was white as a ghost so no one really saw my fear.
