TV Show Discussion Thread

A lot of stuff that used to be on Netflix is now on Hulu. Yet Netflix keeps jacking up their price, so I went with the free version through T-Mobile. I cancelled HBO too and got Hulu and Paramount+ for free. YouTubeTv keeps getting more expensive too, so maybe I just need to go back to torrents. I think I just got lazy.

Last night we watched the first episode of Stick, a feel-good comedy starring Owen Wilson on Apple TV.

For those of you who love golf (and I know some of you do) it’s kind of a must watch. It was best described by my son-in-law as Ted Lasso-like.

Even if you haven’t been bitten by the golf bug, or couldn’t really care less about the game, it’s a cute and funny series that would be pretty difficult not to enjoy.

After a few more episodes I take this back. At the start it had a lot of potential, after a few more episodes…not so much. I’m not sure of exactly who the intended audience is; pretty insulting characterization of both younger and older generations. It’s now not so cute or funny and pretty difficult to enjoy. Good concept, poorly executed.

Paradise on Hulu is very well done. Highly recommend.

I started binge watching Twisted Metal this weekend! It’s awesome in a slightly bonkers kind of way! 😂

My wife and I are rewatching ‘The Offer’ on Paramount+, about the making of ‘The Godfather’. Great series.
Gordon Willis lived around the corner from me. Was in the FD with his son Gordon Jr.

Me and Mrs SO enjoy it, she never even knew the game existed, nice, shorter episodes and Anthony Mackie is excellent in the driver's seat of the show, pun intended.

Watched the first four episodes of Wednesday season 2, still great, it's becoming more Sherlock Holmes which is A OK with me. Maybe it always was. Loved the Easter egg when Morticia mentions Hemlock for those of us who enjoyed Hemlock Grove.

I just finished the 2025 Dark Work on Prime. I really enjoyed it. It's a one season 7 episode series.
While watching I found out it is the prequel to 2022 one year series Terminal List. I am now halfway through that and it is also very good!

Also I caught up on Apple's Slow Horses, very good in its 5th season

There is one I recently watched on Netflix, Adolescence. It was a short 4 episodes.

It was about a teenager who is being accused of murdering a classmate.

That was amazing and I think almost everyone would like it.

That show basically swept the Emmy’s this year in the limited series or anthology category. Best series, best actor, best supporting actor, best supporting actress.

The Terminal List franchise is the shit. Season 3 of TL is in production now. Jack Carr is to story-telling of special ops and such as Taylor Sheridan is to cowboys and the West.

Thanks, checking it out now

Anyone else watching Pluribus on Apple TV? Once I found out that it was a Vince Gilligan series (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul) I knew it would be good. It hasn’t disappointed.

I am 3 eps into Pluribus and think it's just very "meh" at this point. If Kim Wexler wasn't the lead I don't think anyone would be paying attention to the show.

98% on Rotten Tomatoes and 8.5 on IMDB. It might be just a tad better for most than you have found it. (After all, that’s what makes the world go round.)

Rhea Seahorn is good but she’s not carrying the show imo. Vince Gilligan’s story development and the very high production value is.

Okay maybe not anyone, but I think if it was some no name person running the show it wouldn't be getting as much love. People love the familiar face especially a favorite character from the last show he made.

I also think it's getting so much love because VG's name is attached to it since he has a solid portfolio at this point.

I do appreciate the Breaking Bad feel to the show though. It just makes me miss it lol.

Breaking Bad started out very deliberately. I’m intrigued through 3 episodes and will keep watching.

We just finished The Beast In Me the other night on Netflix. Stars Claire Danes (Homeland), Matthew Rhys (The Americans), and Johnathon Banks (Mike on BB & BCS). From the producers of Homeland.

You’ll never look at eating a rotisserie chicken the same way again. 😳

The last show I got excited about was 'The Last of Us' but they killed off the main character and that was it for me. I get that true to the 'video game' but it would be like killing off Karl in Season 2 of the Walking Dead. He was that entire show. Dumb. Who cares if you 'stay true' to the plot line - it's a video game.
