This hire is another example of how the new decision-makers do not leak info. Mehta's hiring was on no local or national media person's radar.

Yep. George Allen level OPSEC is in effect in 2024.

I don't actually mind the Maryland location nor the walk from the metro, but I do have fond childhood memories of RFK. If it could work out that would be pretty cool.

My contrarian viewpoint.

I could give a rat's ass about the RFK site. It's just land now. There will never be another RFK.

I think there are a lot of more important reasons to choose a stadium site than sentimentality. Go where the bulk of your fans are. For me, that means Virginia. Most important factors by far are proximity to the bulk of the fanbase and ease of access into and out of that location (and possibly potential for direct mass transit lines to stadium door).

Question:

In this article: Fox Link

It states:

BREAKING: With blessing of Montana Senator Steve Daines, Senate committee votes to move forward with bill to transfer former RFK Stadium parcel to District of Columbia. Fox 5 DC. Daines says he expects Washington Commanders to uphold its commitments to “restore the logo to prominence”. Bill must still pass the full Senate by December.

So question is, how do the Commanders "restore the logo to prominence"? Does that mean the Redskins logo with the Commanders name? or?

I think Daines was in an unsustainable position. They may have 'assured' him that when representing past Redskins greats and celebrating their history, they would not censor the logo. I doubt they went beyond something like that.

maybe . . . however that does not in any way sound like restoring the logo to prominence.

He's a politician, he can't extract himself from the corner he painted himself in without making it sound like he accomplished something :)

That reads as if the Mayor already has plans for the property. "Affordable housing" in the parking lot?
Read into it what you will. The Mayor isn't likely to come out and say just a stadium, no matter what.

Affordable housing could be played in a couple of ways. Maybe the intention is to build on the land (including housing) as much as possible and limit traffic into DC, instead relying on public transport and off-site park and ride. It could also be used to secure land for housing from elsewhere (I want to see this land used for housing, so if you want to build a stadium here, you'd better help me get the land for my housing elsewhere).

Then there is this that came out about bringing the logo and name back, "Redskins"
