I have to think that it would be difficult for the NFL to award him a Super Bowl now, after all this. They may not have the stomach to do the right thing and take the team away from him, but they also don't have to reward him for bad behavior beyond that.

Keeping the stadium below the required seating level seems a way to save face for everyone.

I will say I think they could amend that number in the near future.

There is a serious shift in how people prefer to watch sports. Yes, teams still sell out stadiums, but the trends as a whole are going down. MOST people under 30 prefer to be a part of a trendy spectacle, more than witness a sporting event. They would rather be at the week long festivities where they can be posting on social media, and being out and about, than they would be in the stadium for the game. With the TV money where it is, and the gambling changes across the country, it would make a lot of sense to shift the Super Bowl to be less about the fan in attendance, and more about the celebrity. Pack the 55K stadium, sure, but MOST people would prefer to be partying it up with thier friends at Super Bowl parties, and get togethers.

55k is still an odd number to aim for regardless. The marketing thought “could” be related to the commander/military theme. Maybe like when the team is on defense the Jumbotron flashes a ‘5 x 5’ for the crowd to get loud n clear.

A big reach I know but making sense of what this damn team’s thinking is always a shot in the dark.

RFK is off the table

I think it’s quite possible that no stadium deal, as long as Dan Snyder is our owner, can get done.

Yes - that’s a pretty clear indictment. Whatever one thinks of DC politicians, I admire them having the balls to say it publicly.

VA was trending in that direction...

MD might be the only option left, as I've heard NOBODY speaking out against the team to this point. MD said they would not give a dime to the team toward the stadium, but they did say they were going to invest $400mil into the surrounding area whether there is a stadium or not.

Worst case scenario now most likely. Remain at Fed Ex. Good luck putting lipstick on that pig.

It's been reported that the tema wants to move ALL operations to a single spot. Practice facilities, stadium, team offices, EVERYTHING. I wonder if that $400m would go toward that?

Also... that would piss off a lot of players who currently live and hour and a half away out near where I live.

RFK Campus?

I believe they knew if RFK was the spot, that he facilities would stay in Ashburn, simply not enough room in DC. It's never really been considered and I think this is one of a handful of reasons... even after the Mayor said they should come back home.

Part of this came from the Del Rio comments yesterday (which I don't really agree with.. if it's bad business, the DC's opinion and political views should not be a deciding factor), but I think Snyder's actions SHOULD have been plenty to warrant this decisions imho.

I just thought the use of ‘campus’ was pretty funny. I guess it sounds better than crumbling eyesore.

Dan must be senile now.

55k isn't even close to the size required for a super bowl. Why wouldn't he want that extra income?

Virginia was ideal for the stadium, but not now. Their decision to pull out due to someone's opinion is dumb. All those people who don't even support jack are the ones suffering now.
