1993 here. It would be nuts if they all had jobs. All from the Laycock tree.
Yeah, I was one of the few that actually went to every game and watched every game. The good news was very few students actually went to the game so we sat or stood wherever we wanted to.
Watched some good football and some really bad football.
Probably my most devastating loss in all of my time as a fan was in the 1996 season, we had a chance to go the the I-AA Semifinal game. We were playing Northern Iowa.
The game was at Northern Iowa, and we got completely roasted in the first half. And then pulled all the way back, and stopped them with not a lot of time left. And then Darren fucking Sharper muffed a punt, gave the ball back, they kicked a FG to win 38-25.
My roommates and I listened to the game on the radio because it was not broadcast as far as I know.
I swear, if I had seen Darren Sharper on campus over the next several weeks, he might have gotten a shiv to the appendix. Then GB drafted him, I think with the last pick of the 2nd round. Preseason the next year, Holmgren put him back there to return a punt in pre-season. He muffed that, and then I don't think Holmgren ever tried again. So, I have a very odd hatred of Darren Sharper. Turned out he was one bad dude also.
Anyway, it was devastating. It was so close. My friends and I were going to go to Marshall if we won, as our our consolation prize would have been to be beaten by 90 by the Marshall team that had Randy Moss. Who caught 9 passes for 220 yards in the championship game against Montana. He might have set a collegiate record which still might be standing if he played us. But we would have been there to see it.
