The Peyton Manning discussion

Houston, um no.

Seattle has become a huge player in the last twelve hours or so. It will be a bidding war between the Seahawks, Dolphins, Redskins, and possibly the Cardinals.

Just got a message - JLC is at Redskins Park.

Well, that means PM is not coming to DC, lol!

Lanky, The Dolphins have Brandon Marshall at WR also...that's a big selling point, although I agree with your overall questioning of them as front runner.

As for Philly's prospects...I don't see it. They have 12million guaranteed tied up in Vick this year so he's not going anywhere, and I don't see Manning jumping into that fray with Vick present.

Hey I know I'm late to this game so forgive if I'm repeating an already covered point. Why can't we go get Manning AND still trade up for RGIII? I know that''s a long shot but with the rokkie cap now it seems like something we can sure afford and considering we'll be giving up nothing in order to get Manning, it seems plausible (although unlikely) for something like this to happen. Also I don't get all the comparisons to Favre and MacNabb in relation to Manning's willingness/ability to mentor a young hotshot. Seems to me he'd be a hell of a mentor and there's no way he'd be cranky about doing the work necessary to fit that mold the way Favre and McNabb evidently were.

If we intend to sign a big time WR during free agency, we can't wait until the draft to have a clearer picture at QB. The top available WR's will be gone the 1st week. None will likely want to come here knowing they'll be catching balls from a rook, or GrossBeck.

I know it's PFT, but they just posted an article today (Wednesday, March 7th) stating that the Redskins will make an "Aggressive Effort" to sign Manning.

No disrespect to Peyton, but I swear, if I have to watch another team's guy join the party in Washington for one last kick at the can, and then watch a glowing prospect like RG3 hold up another team's jersey on draft day, I will be jealous of whoever that team is.

Just because we sign Peyton, doesn't mean we don't go after RG3.
One 1 of those players is going to cost us picks, so it's not like getting one, takes us out of the sweepstakes for the other. And having both QB's has it's purpose, of course.

Listening to the press conference right now and I gotta say this is the biggest pomp show I have ever seen with a separation between a team and their franchise player. I don't ever remember anything like this. I am not sure if this is Peyton being gracious and Irsay being the pompous ass he is, because I'd like to think Peyton is above all this pageantry. But knowing his father, I doubt it.

I am going with my original gut feeling about this. Just say no to Peyton Manning! It will be another circus I am not sure this team needs right now. There is still lingering doubt about his physical ability. Can we afford to sign a highly probable has been? Do we really take the chance to sign a former great? I haven't heard anyone mention this about Peyton, but I have heard it mentioned about other QB's; if Peyton still had it, the Colts would sign him!

I think I would take a pass. Bring in Chad Henne!

We're going for both. Been saying it for several weeks. Will we be outbid for PM's services? Time will tell.

I believe this is smoke and mirrors - if we appear to be making an "aggressive" effort to sign Manning, St. Louis loses leverage for the #2 pick. Gotta keep Fisher on his toes!

Well, it was my pick in the QB Poll thread, so I'm gonna ride that pony 'til it dies.

Manning/Tannehill. And we still have all our picks, and lots of cap space.

2 good years of Peyton, with Tannehill getting to learn QB the old fashioned way, ready to hit the ground running after Peyton retires following our 4th SB title.

I like Warren Sapp, but the man really doesn't do his homework. While discussing why Manning won't come here he talks about how bad our O-line was, not that they got consistently better as the year wore on and he said that Fred Davis was a Free agent. Wasn't Davis just hit with a Franchise Tag?

These networks should demand more from their employees!

Peyton, please sign with the Jets already so you can face Brady twice a year, if you can play, and all this speculation can end!

Knowing that he was going to be released for weeks I would not be surprised to see Manning sign in the next couple of days.

Whichever team signs him has work to do on offense and free agency opens next week.

Maybe he'd rather face the Colts twice a year instead, and play for JAX.

Funny, not one single speculator has mentioned the Jags, but that would make sense for both Peyton and the Jags.

The Jaguars are kind of terrible, and far from contention for a Lombardi (IMO).
