The Peyton Manning discussion

This is good news for the Redskins as it puts pressure on the Rams to move that pick if they intend to :co_obvious:
That's the reason I grinned when I heard the good news. I wish we could get Manning and Griffin. How sweet would that be?

I was thinking same thing, Boone. This can change the RG3 market. Then you have Flynn hitting market in couple days as well.

As per what I said last night, this is the next step in helping the Redskins and it gives the Rams a bit less leverage.

Now we know that Flynn was not franchised. Yet, another step.

From tomorrow to a week from today - this will be a key period of time. Gonna be fun to watch.

Also, Part 3 of the current BBQ series coming tomorrow.

I'll confess that I've had the thought - Manning and keeping all of our draft picks would be a hell of a consolation prize if it looks like the cost to move up is just too steep.

Don't be surprised if we end up with both QBs - been saying for a month or so. Maybe it is misinformation on purpose, but not sure if that is the case.

Something that is not being reported. Manning has been working with Jon Gruden to learn the WCO backwards and forwards.

Another food for thought item...

Seattle is considered to be a long shot to make a move ahead of the Redskins, but they are too far back. Going to toss another bone to you...

Don't be surprised if the Seahawks make a run for Jason Campbell.

Am I really getting excited about the prospect of Peyton coming here and Reggie Wayne or Pierre Garcon deciding to come along with him?

Edit: Schefter is reporting it will eventually come down to us or the Dolphins with Miami as the favorite.

Garcon is a definite target, but not Wayne.

Hell, if we got Peyton, having both of them wouldn't be a bad idea. Wouldn't have to worry about timing at all! Put Moss in the slot!

Ugh! Why am I even thinking like this? Aaaah! I am trapped in the off-season world of "hope" and delusion! What can I say, I am Redskins' fan! :_blank:

This is exactly what we want to happen. It's a win-win for the Redskins. Either scenario gives more leverage to the burgundy and gold.

Hello, greetings, I am new to this blog, but I see that all we are interested in, the subject of manning,

I have a friend in the international press, who told me, rumors of manning

Shanahan, I talk with Peyton manning, and told him his interest to redskins, but manning, said that would not play in the division where this his brother,

However, manning, not is really intended for miami,
Manning wants to end his career in a big team,

and shanahan already has an ultimatum, to reach playoffs this year.

so shanahan, not think about the future of the redskins, only in the present.

Why GIII. will be an option, but not the priority

then the possibility to sign with redskins, Peyton manning is almost at 90 %

Well, if the NFL, and the TV networks, especially Fox, had a vote, then there could be no doubt that Manning would be in Burgundy & Gold this season. The Manning vs Manning media circus would generate quite a buzz, as well as line quite a few pockets.

But, as I always maintain. I don't care if we sign Daffy ****in Duck. As long as he comes here and plays well.

But how does he feel about playing against his brother 2 to 3 times a year ?

I think this will be reason we aren't really serious in Peyton's plans. Like I heard several talking heads say, Peyton will really be interviewing the teams versus them interviewing him.

Has anyone actually heard PM say he didn't want to play his brother twice a year? Maybe not but it seems a lot more likely that he'd LIKE to compete against his bro, but it's not in line with their public image of unity to even hint at that. I think that aspect is being dramatically overplayed unless someone has heard something I haven't.

Good point CT. I've never heard anything about him saying such a thing. Hell, they grew up learning to play QB against each other.

I can't see Manning going to Miami either. People keep saying they're the front-runner; why, exactly? They don't have much of an OL (a lot of castaways from other squads except for Pouncey), their RB is questionable (Reggie Bush will not do what he did this year again, and I'm not sold on D. Thomas), and their starting WRs are Davone Bess & Brian Hartline. I guess they could go and get some of those needs in FA and then draft a big-name WR, but I see them as further away than the Redskins in terms of contention (at this moment).

I think Peyton signs with a mystery team that nobody has mentioned yet. Maybe the Vikings think Ponder & Webb could benefit from the tutelage of Manning for a couple years. Maybe Oakland? They are a lot closer than people think out there, although they did just give up a lot for Palmer. The Cowboys? Romo has consistently let them down over the years, and maybe Jerrah reaches for the checkbook if he thinks their window is closing (its already closed, but nobody tell him that). Up North on 75 from Miami, Freeman was a huge disappointment this year; could Tampa bring in Manning? Finally, what about Philthy? Who better to cap off the roster of the "dream team" than a top 5 QB of all time? That team was a lot better than their record last season, that's for sure.

There are just so many options at this point.

EDIT: The option that makes the most sense is San Francisco, to be honest.
