The Jayden Daniels Tracker

I watch the games too, and this simply isn’t true.

Okay maybe it is not one read and run, maybe it’s take one look at the protection and run for his life, or take one look at the coverage and try to make a play on his own. Whatever it is, it is definitely a lot of running by the quarterback.

He could always just stand there and get sacked or heave it to the 4th row. Those are the options in 2025.

I think we agree more than you realize. This started with a post that said JD keeps getting hurt because the playcalling causes him to run too much, and I agreed but added that we really wouldn’t want him to stop running. That’s the rub.

And of course this is a team sport, part of it is the line, part of it is the receivers, part of it is the play calling, and only part of it is JD’s decision making. Really nothing is working for us, and I do give JD credit for trying to put the team on his back, but now he’s done for the year.

Fellas,

If you have your Qb just returning from injury, why are you calling designed runs for him when you have three backs?
I mean the first possession last night, not one handoff to a back. All passes.

At some point, Quinn has to look at Kliff and say "Seriously Dude?"

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports X-rays on Jayden Daniels’ elbow were negative.
These negative X-rays confirm that Daniels did not suffer any kind of fracture when he went down in Sunday night’s game against the Seahawks. The MRI, however, will determine what, if any, ligament damage occurred and how severe it is. There’s still a lot to learn here, but this news, coupled with an earlier report from Rapoport that said “there is a chance this is not a season-ending injury” for Daniels, is a very encouraging sign. We’ll likely know more before the day is over, but it goes without saying that Daniels is out for the foreseeable future, putting Marcus Mariota back in the starting role.

I would have to go back and look, but I can only remember 2 called runs for Daniels last night. All the rest were scrambles.

I am doing this from memory. I might be wrong, but I don’t think the number of called runs was more than 5, and that’s even 3 more than I actually remember.

Daniels ran a bunch because literally nobody was open. So he scrambled and got positive yards. And they couldn’t run the ball worth a damn with RBs. Which is why they were at least attempting to throw the ball.

Let’s say our starting WRs last night were Deebo, McCaffery and Lane, with Burk and Moore as the primary backups.

Would any of those players except for Deebo start for any of the top 5 college football programs right now? Ohio State, Indiana, Texas A&M, Alabama, Georgia. I’d say it would be unlikely.

That’s the level of WR talent we’re putting out on the field at the moment. Our WR corps couldn’t break a good college team lineup.

Now, if McLaurin, Deebo and Brown were healthy, that combination would start for a by of those teams.

We don’t have players. It’s nobody’s fault. But it’s a fact. There are no answers because if it.

Hmm, maybe Jayden’s not done for the year. I would probably play him if he was 100% healthy and pass protection was okay. He will want to play, he needs the experience, and he’s the star. I don’t like this thing where we never let him play because we are scared he will get hurt.

Of course a lot of this is depending on a situation that remains to be seen regarding record, injuries, pass protection, etc. We can cross that bridge when we come to it. Mariota can play, I will be interested to see how he does while Jayden heals.

Unless there is an NFL caliber receiving corps, I’m sending him to 2026.

If you put him out there with this bunch of jabronis, he’s going to try and make up for their deficiencies and get hurt again.

:amen: :amen: :amen:

We can't afford to lose him for next season (of course, what happens in the draft and FA is up in the air right now).

But he's still kinda just a kid. He went far beyond expectations last season, blew our minds, and then this season is happening.

I don't want it to happen next season. I'm always this way, and I very rarely am rewarded.

Gimme this one. Sit him out. I love watching him, but it's gotta happen for the future.

I haven't seen anything about surgery and such. Article on Bobby Wagner after the game.... Did I miss something ?
"Harborview Medical Center, where Daniels was being prepped for emergency surgery on his broken arm." "the young quarterback, arm in a cast, managed a faint smile"

Maye is going to be the second best QB of this class behind Jayden. Both are franchise level QBs and Maye is playing out of his mind right now no doubt. Hope to see them face each other in the SB one day. As bad as this season has gone, we have found the toughest piece to find and that is a franchise QB. Peters has a massive offseason ahead of him.

Maye is playing good ball, but with the caveat that the Patriots are playing the most cupcake schedule in a long, long time. Their strength of schedule is .305. I don't think I've ever seen a team through week 10 have that kind of SOS.

I'm not sure if you're implying this is made up, I hope it's not. It literally brought tears to my eyes, what a wonderful story. Wagner has gone right up in my eyes after that.

I can't help wonder what he whispered was "at least you don't have to play for these fuck-ups anymore this season"!

I agree Jayden could be the best of the lot if he can stay healthy, but that’s looking like more and more of a big “if.” I think this is part of why everybody is so upset, whether we want to admit it or not, our fears are being realized. Please convince me I’m wrong, because I’m feeling awfully hopeless about the whole thing.

Interesting. This story says two think I had not heard:

1. Jayden had surgery. I don’t think that is true, but surely they put his arm joint back together, so maybe that is what was meant.
2. Wagner left immediately after the game to see him. They seem to be good friends, and I’m sure Bobby is a good mentor. It is great to see stuff like this, DQ has done a good job building that kind of culture here.

I have no absolutely doubt in my mind that Bobby did exactly as the story states, he's a true class act, and human being. I'm questioning the medical reporting. What caught me was the prep for emergency surgery. The cast caught me off guard too. Was it the air splint, or an actual cast ? Post surgery ? I've see other stuff saying he hasn't even had an MRI yet. That actually makes sense to me, as I've seen doctors wait for swelling to go down prior to the MRI. Trying to sort through conflicting stuff that's popping up.

Not to mention that the article stated that Wagner “left Lumen Field and headed straight to Harborview Medical Center, where Daniels was being prepped for emergency surgery on his broken arm.”

Both are located in Seattle. And there has been zero reporting anywhere else that Jayden suffered a broken arm or has surgery performed.

Having now seen a still of the injury I don't doubt he needed some sort of surgery, it's literally 180 degrees from where it should be. The broken bit sounds wrong though as you say Chris.
