The Jayden Daniels Tracker

No fractures usually means 4-6 weeks so he could still return this season but of course they will probably sit him

They should sit him.

They should also sit Tunsil, Biadacz and Cosmi on the OL. They should sit Ertz and force Sinnott to try that role and see what he can do.

Yeah, I think his season could be done, he'd likely be coming back to a 4-10 team with 3 games left... 2 of them against the Eagles. Yikes. IR him, let him do his energizer bunny offseason workaholic thing, and improve the roster around him.

Love to know where that 4th
win is coming from.

I hate to say it, but Jayden’s career is unfolding exactly as many of us feared it would: Spectacular rookie season, massive sophomore slump as NFL defenses figured him out, and a complete inability to stay healthy due to his slim frame and playing style.

People are quick to blame DQ for not putting him in bubble wrap, but I hate having a quarterback who is so injury prone we have to second guess letting him play regular season games in which he is healthy. There is something called a glass cannon, which is a very potent offensive weapon that is easily defeated because it is so fragile. It feels like that is what we have in JD.

I really hate to be right about this, so hopefully he proves me wrong next year, but here’s where we are: Jayden has played 5 of 9 games this season and suffered injuries in three of them. Now he is likely to miss the remainder of the season. Who cares how good a guy is if he is only available for 30% of the games?

Sorry for being so negative, but it just feels like we are back to square one. I really hope this is a fluke season and JD gets healthy and returns to looking like a franchise QB again. I’m just not feeling too optimistic.

Yeah, think you're overreacting a bit. Can't have a sophomore slump if you dont have anyone to throw to.
Also dont think anyone "figured him out". He was still the only one who had any positive plays on the Offense.

I think there are several reasons why this season is unfolding the way it is, and Jayden having a “sophomore slump“ is not one of them. Not even close. He has been behind the eight ball since the off-season. McLaurin’s hold out had a massive effect on how good this offense should have been this year and the injuries are just absurd at this point. I also think the entire team was feeling themselves from top to bottom and their approach to training camp and the preseason was soft.

I just don’t see how we have enough data to say that “defenses have figured him out” is the reason why he and the entire team is struggling.

When guys have been figured out and have sophomore slumps, there’s an abundance of bad tape that makes its rounds on the Internet. Good luck finding that tape on Daniels.

I understand it’s hard to accept that this offense is so night and day from last season. Naturally one wants to point at the QB in that scenario.

Do you understand the amount of sacks and turnovers a less mobile QB takes with this same offense?

This offense in its constant state of flux has been ‘figured out’ but it doesn’t take a genius to do that. We literally have nobody that can beat man coverage. Defenses have to cover about ten yards. It’s an absolute disaster.

Sophmore slump or not, the durability concerns were my main point, and those are very real. Jayden has suffered three separate injuries in his five starts, already missed four games, and is likely to miss the remaining eight. It looks like all our worst fears about Jayden being the next RG3 are coming true.

Please convince me I’m wrong. I hope I am. I’m just completely discouraged by this season, I really started to think we were finally on the right track with a real franchise QB, now I feel like a fool for ever having such hope. The truth is 2024 was no different from 1999, 2005, or 2012, a fluke lucky season for an otherwise terrible team, same as it has been for 35 years now.

I think there’s a distinct connection between the inept offense and his health. I don’t expect Mariota to finish the season in one piece either.

5 is at high risk of injury not just because of his frame.

It's because his OC relies more on 5's legs for a run game than he does his Rbs. He'd rather 5 run than hand off to Bill,CRod or McNichols on a consistent basis.
Kliff reminds me so much of Spurrier: Here's your run, now we can get back to passing!

The durability issues are a fair concern IMO. Is Jayden built for the long game? Only time will tell at this point.

I’m more concerned about that than I am any of his actual Football abilities. If he can stay healthy, he’s a legitimate franchise quarterback for this organization. The problem is the kid plays in the NFL, and you can’t wrap him in bubble wrap. You also can’t sacrifice his development in real game situations for the sake of protecting him at all costs.

At some point he’s gonna take contact no matter what you do.

I don’t love the fact our leading rusher was a quarterback last year, and I’m not a big fan of Jayden’s propensity to make one read and run, so fair enough.

On the other hand, why have a running quarterback at all if you are going to handicap him by taking the run option away?

And there’s the rub with making a running quarterback your franchise player. He can do awesome things one year and only play 5 games the next.
