I was really rooting for Lynn to get the HC job he applied for.

Now he is back here as a veteran coach who has been a HC and OC and he is taking orders from a guy that is calling plays for the first time.

It can work, but I can see where Lynn might not be that happy about the position he is in.

I hope so. Again, I just never knew Harbaugh was this full of himself. And adding all the adulation they seem to be getting from the local media and some from the national media, I think we will see the most arrogant 4-13 team in the history of the NFL.

But considering how unlikeable Harbaugh comes off, it makes my hatred for that team reach new heights.

Sure, fair. I guess I was implying that maybe there’s still an outside run coordinator hire coming. Most of the local media have been giving a “with the staff mostly assembled” caveat when listing hires, so I’m not sure if they’re just unsure or if it’s just unspoken.

Maybe it’s because of proximity or something but I certainly knew. Total non-shocker with the ways he’s been talking and acting. I mean, this is the guy who puffed his chest out about the ridiculous 19 game preseason win streak they had.

Yeah, if that’s what you’re implying I agree. They might bring somebody else in.

But I don’t think if I’m him I care so much if they brought somebody in to replace me vs. just demoting me. It’s still a demotion.

There is the chance he doesn’t want both jobs also. He might be fine just being the RB coach.

As an aside, my phone autocorrects RB to Arab. And that could lead to some very awkward posts. For example, in the sentence above, “He might be fine just being the Arab coach” would have a very different connotation… I caught it that time and fixed it.

I think a lot of Kliff's shortcomings were overlooked in 2024 because JD5 made up for a lackluster run game and stayed mostly healthy doing despite taking hits. He played through the rib injury that could have cost the playoffs had it kept him out for a few games. There was also a hard cap on the production the RB group was going to produce so it was easy to overlook what they had to resort to in the moment, keeping in mind also it probably wasn't expected that JD5 would be good enough quick enough for the bigger picture to matter so soon.

Take that same offense into the following season without enough upgrades and the weaknesses present themselves almost immediately, even despite Jayden still putting up decent numbers.

I mean, but when you’re running an offense that has literally none of the projected starters at skill positions, that really affects what you can do.

Kliff had to change the way they tried to do offense, and he did. It wasn’t as noticeable to some becuase thy remained in no huddle. But they really weren’t a hurry up offense. They ran the ball more, but the run wasn’t really working because defenses figured out you could basically put a Langley High School Freshman CB 1:1 with our Wars, clog the box and force either Daniels or Mariota to beat them with PS level WRs.

maybe they could have run more, maybe they could had been under center more, but the offense, down to PS level talent at WR still, for the most part, wasn’t terrible.

Why are people so convinced Johnson and Lynn are pissed off about the Blough hire? It's been 6 weeks, and Lynn has interviewed for a HC position and Johnson for an OC position. There hasn't been a peep of any discontent, at all. Why wouldn't they be excited to work with Blough?

Do we miss the drama that much? Miss the coaching staff full of selfish dicks, only interested in their own skin?

Have to agree there’s been zero evidence of discontent. Maybe, just maybe, those guys are professionals through and through, and just plan to continue doing their job to the best of their ability. Doing whatever they can to help make Blough successful is the best thing they can do right now for their own careers.

It’s not really about drama (and I have no opinion on Brian Johnson’s feelings—although he’s Asst HC, so possibly in line to finish as Interim HC if things ever go badly with Quinn, so he has incentive to stick it out either way). But Lynn losing one of his titles and some of the responsibilities he had is just awkward. Who wouldn’t have negative feelings about that? Clearly he still wants to work here or had no better opportunities at this time, that’s fine. But he did get demoted, people are going to remark upon it

But again the main point is that it’s a curiosity, people are going to comment on it, it’s natural. Doesn’t mean the assumption is that he’s secretly fuming and sabotaging us or something. It just doesn’t happen that much across the league

So, as I post that, Keim talked this morning about we'll know by the end of the week what's going on with Johnson, which is interesting. He might be feeling passed over, which is understandable. This is the first indication of any issues, that I've heard. So we'll see there. Darrell Bevell joined the Panthers last week, so he's not available (he would be my primary choice). So we'll see.

And are any of those people arguing that our assistants are doing anything unprofessional? Or simply speculating that the 57-year old former HC who got demoted probably isn’t thrilled to lose responsibility to a 30-year old who’s been coaching for 2 years, no matter how professional he is?
