The HC Dan Quinn Discussion Thread

Much like my UNC Heels we seem to hire guys on the back end of career while McVay and Shanahan and LaFleurs slip by without even a second glance. Any names out there we’d like to have?

I think this thread is 3-4 years early but will eventually be the reality. And that’s okay, Quinn will establish the new culture and if he can’t get over the hump around the time Daniels is being re-signed (or a year or two after), the question will be at the forefront of everyone’s minds.

Pointless to talk about now though, and arguably in poor taste. Nobody knew who the hot young play callers would be 3 years before they became real candidates. So no use even speculating

I think it's too early to make this statement but on the other hand AP should always keep his eyes open

We should have hired Vrabel. Too late now.
Quinn's defense has always fallen apart against the McVay system. It will take another 2 years before he gets fired.

At this stage - I definitely agree. I don't know how the interview process went, but if I'm Harris I am questioning how effective it was.

All - if DQ or the team are horrible the rest of the year, it's not necessarily too early to say this. Extreme things can occur.
My expectation would be the coordinators (1? 2?) would indeed take the fall first if they play horribly down the stretch; again, below expectation.

I don't know about Quinn. But I'm ready to move on from Kliff. I don't care about play design if it's not used well in the circumstances. Too many defenses have shown something (that they do all season long) and Kliff doesn't have an answer in the moment when his Plan A isn't working. When he dials up a play to beat it, it feels like the defense already knows it's coming. He's got too many trends.

That's the theme for Kliff in Arizona, and was the theme for us last year until Jayden Daniels went nuclear in crunch time. His offenses just always fizzle out as the season goes along. Defenses get more tape, identify trends, and Kliff isn't adapting in-season or in-game.

I don’t think poor taste after losing by 30+ to Vikings is necessarily a good position

it's too early. save this for middle of next season. he took the team to the NFC championship just last year. it is not realistic to hope he'd get dropped this offseason. keep things in the realm of reality.

I was thinking along the same lines. DQ ain't it for me, sorry but true!! If we finally determine after three years, it'd only be a wasted time. Fact that he is a defensive HC and our team sucked in both years under him says it all. He refused to replace his handpicked D coach when everyone saw it coming from a mile and now we have this situation that we are in. We have our run with old washed up coached under Dan and it would be a let down to continue the trend under this regime too. Last year was the first year of JD so we had success and this year teams have figured him and our O out and it is obvious. We can'e even adjust.

This is a passing league. We have seen it time and again, running QB can win a season here and there but it is hard to win a SB like this. Even Raven won with a passing mid-tier QB and still struggling to win one with Lamar.

I am also down on our front office. They have patched up this team under delusional pretense of last year's run and have old washed up players playing the prime positions. I'd rather play the young guys and lose.

There are a lot of issues with this team and I have said many times, we need above average players before we pick elite players in draft. We need more picks and not less like we have done in the last year. Very disappointing!!

Unless there is major scandal, there is a 0% chance DQ gets fired after this year. Remember that Harris is big into perception and will not want to be seen as being rash. DQ gets at least one more year and probably gets one more past that if they are around 500

From a longer term standpoint, I think we are starting to see the next batch of guys emerge for after 2026. Klint, Grizzard, Shula and others

Do you feel that way if we end out with 3 wins for the season and the rest of the games look like today's?

I guess we'll have to see this team keep sucking for the foreseeable future under DQ then. It's a shame but it is what it is I guess. Let's hope we keep getting young at least. In addition, if they keep DQ as HC, I hope Peters makes the selection for Defensive Coach himeself and gives him autonomy over building a defensive roster cuz DQ has not done or shown any signs of improvements. We are the bottom feeders in the league this year being him as a Defensive HC. 🤦‍♂️

if we're a properly run organization, Peters should be sticking purely to personnel and leave any coaching staff decisions to Quinn - for better or for worse. if Peters interferes in coaching staff decisions, i'll be concerned. Quinn may get fired after next year, but so be it. I don't want to set the trend of the front office not doing their job.
