The HC Dan Quinn Discussion Thread

Maybe the focus should be getting Cliff out of here so we can all get on the same page with what we do well offensively.
Agreed. He came back from soul-searching in Thailand and impressed last season. But DCs have figured that shit out, largely because he has reverted to what he always does. Maybe he can ask Benedict Cumberbatch for directions to Kamar-Taj.

He's that guy with all the annoying trivia that everyone tolerates who hangs out at that local Boston bar.

And perhaps he could call a more fluid game than k

(really dated joke.)
It's a little known fact that...

It would help if Peters actually finds a DE an offense is afraid of and some skill players on offense that can play right away.

The idea of waiting 4 years until McCaffrey is 26 to find out whether he will be a player that can get on the field regularly as a #3 pick is a bit much.

How about we focus on prospects that are more pro ready after Round 1.

Lighten up Francis 😉

I think both things are true: the 2025 Commanders are shockingly and historically bad, and it is still too early to fire DQ because of his 2024 performance and the players’ love for him.

The team sucks, but DQ has earned a chance to turn it around. I hope he does, only time will tell.
I can buy in but only with significant staff changes and a defensive draft

The concern for me lies in defensive minded HC and bringing Whitt and our defense being putrid for two years…when we lose we flame out spectacularly poorly with multiple big plays and no apparent competence on that side of ball at all

This has been my biggest concern as well.

I understand that some of the deficiencies can be attributed to a lack of personnel but that doesn't account for just how bad they defense has been.
A good defensive coordinator would be giving up yards and points above league average but they wouldn't be embarrassing.

^^^Deja vu? Pretty weird that it feels like the Rivera/JDR thing all over

I was chatting with a buddy and our conclusion is that maybe 1 or 2 other coaches get fired. Feels like Gannon and Rallis will be safe and Raheem / Ullbrich too.

What this means for us is that it will likely be a shallow DC pool and we may need to roll the dice again on a first time NFL DC.

Jim Leonhard may be the top candidate on the market. If you are him, you probably take the Giants gig though given all the defensive talent he has to work with.

How dare anyone make a thread about this! Don’t y’all realize that not only is Dan a leader, but he is a leader of men! And he is our leader of men! Our third choice leader of men.

And he brought with him his own brand of previously one dimensional coaches that managed to ride the coattails of our rookie of the year quarterback in such a way that actually made them look somewhat responsible for his success. Genius.

Shame!

'Underperformances' is a questionable characterization imho. Yes - in a vacuum, averaging 20+ points per game while giving up an average of 28 points - that isn't good. 4 wins isn't good. That falls well below the bar. But in context, I'm not sure what the expectation is when you play your backup QB for half the season and you have more starters on IR than you have on the field? Is that really 'underperformance' or is it exactly what one would expect regardless of who the coaches are?

One thing I will say about this coaching staff - and I don't think it is getting enough attention. These players have not quit on them. They are clearly playing hard. There has not been any evidence at all of a lack of belief in their coaches or mailing in performances. They are playing with intensity and effort regardless of the results and despite the games being meaningless to a degree the rest of the way. I think that says something.

Mike MacDonald should have been the hire. Those Ravens/ Michigan coordinators (Minter and MacDonald) have been something else.
