True. There are some outside receivers available after cutdowns but the ones with upside are 22 or 23 and I am not sure Washington would place eggs in that basket in a year we are looking at contending - although I would be aggressive enough to do it

This is just good GM-ing. Give your player a raise, but use your leverage, and position yourself to be as good as possible without anchor contracts

Terry got a fair deal. And if he really doesn’t decline with age, which was his contention, then he can make that fake DK Metcalf AAV.

Terry gets paid, but the organization leaves their options open to draft (or sign) his replacement over the next two offseasons without a lot of financial hardship should Terry not want to restructure or the organization itself ends up ready to move on. Nice to finally have a front office in charge that know what it's doing.

Incentives kick in at 83 catches, 1097 yards. 1 more of each than last year. I feel like that's a subtle "do better" to prove age isn't a factor.

If he hits those incentives we will be pretty happy.

To be fair, that is a risk when your entire personal brand is built around being so highly regarded. It may not be fair but the higher regard people hold you in, the higher standard you’ve created for yourself and the easier it is to disappoint. People set a low bar for people they expect to be disappointed by, but they set an extremely high bar for those they regard the highest. Fair? Maybe not. But there are a lot of intangible trickle-down benefits to being perceived as such a highly regarded person so kind of a live by the sword, die by the sword situation.

I can’t speak for everyone else and I do agree that rationally it’s a bit of overreaction. But emotionally I guess I just felt disgusted by the interview and the pissy way he skulked around in a hoodie during the last game. I mean, I would have never pulled that s@@t myself and I would have put the hammer down on my kids if they tried it (back when I had a say).

I’ll get over it and so will everyone else. But I don’t begrudge a little venting/catharsis for now.

After all this holding in shit and missing camp, personally, I kind of look at Terry a little differently now, and not in a positive way. So I guess I'm in that camp as well. My thing is , he does seem to catch everything thrown at him,, but he needs to show up against Philly for sure and just against all the East in general! No excuses should be accepted now that he's been paid lol!

Terry had no leverage, so it really doesn't matter if he meant it as leverage or not, lol... I guess what he's probably saying is that it was more out of frustration than a real desire to be traded or trying to throw a fit and force the team's hand.

He's definitely going to be seen as less of a 'hero' type player and more of a typical NFL player. But once the bullets start flying, if he continues to be a key guy and produces, this will all dissipate and he'll be a fan favorite again.

If he said he didn't mean the trade request, he couldn't use it for an ounce of leverage in the future. Saying he meant it today doesn't mean much to me.
