The All Things Terry Thread

He might have won the stare down, but will see.

Most of the locals thought a deal would get done soon because of the timing. Lynell below was the exception, expecting a hold out or him being traded.

Yeah I'm very happy that a deal got done, but I also won't ever see Terry in the same way again (not that he gives a crap). He acted like a petulant diva throughout the process and basically showed his ass while proclaiming that he should get more money for being such a great guy. To me he's no longer a cultural cornerstone of the team, just a good player we brought back.

I also am curious what the full details of the deal will be. The initial rollout and announcement is a chance for the agent and Terry to save face by leaking the entirety of what he could possibly earn, without people being able to nitpick over how much of it is actually backloaded and he may very well not even see.
That's fair, but I also know me. I will scream pretty loudly when he breaks free and scores a touchdown. Mind you, almost all of my cheers are for the team versus for a player so I don't know if anything really changes for me.

My other thought on this is why in the name of all that is holy did this take so long to get to? Literally NOTHING changed from the day after season was over until now.
Deadlines drive deals. The compelling event here was that checks were on the line for the player and games that matter were on the line for the team. We will see who blinked or if there was a meet in the middle moment when we see the full details lf the agreement.

Awesome!! I was never worried. The whole hold out, whine, complain, claim disrespect, and ask for a trade act is just standard negotiating procedure these days in the NFL. I’m continuing to give Terry the benefit of the doubt that it was all an act, and the real Terry is the hard-working, non-diva professional we’ve come to know the last several years.

So his distracting diva behavior can be ignored because he’s not actually a diva? Silly. I hope he studs out this year too but you saw the real Terry. He’s not the Mike Evans type he pretends to be for this franchise and that’s fine, most players aren’t. But he is by definition a diva.

He's absolutely a contract diva.

I will wait for the actual numbers but…this.

I will root for him like I would any mercenary because of the team but will never again see him as a core Redskin/Footballer/Commander again.

Congrats Bro. 😑

Yeah that's possible, Always beware of the first numbers put out -- typically by the agent.
I would be totally shocked if we caved and gave Terry the DK Metcalf deal.

I think we are going to find out that Terry took what we offered and then we added some garbage so he and his agent didn't look like buffoons. Because at the end of the day, putting a dunce cap on them and making them stand in the corner doesn't serve anybody.

Yeah this stuff from fans, I think they misunderstood the point from those fans (me included) about Terry being a diva.

i don't think most thought he was a diva because we didn't think he'd sign a contract. It was about his diva behavior. As for a deal, i think most of us expected a deal. He basically had no choice but to do so. He had no leverage.

Terry ultimately signing a deal doesn't absolve him from his divaish behavior.

Also, i noticed some on X saying Terry "winning the deal" vindicates Terry's behavior, too. for starters, we don't know yet, he did. But if he did, are we supposed to celebrate the team caved to him because of basically defacto blackmail coming from the "leader" on the team pouting and trashing the FO and becoming a distraction when they are in a SB potential season.

It's like saying the 5 year old kid who screams at the Supermarket for wanting a cookie, and the parent eventually caves in to avoid a scene -- so the conclusion is the kid's behavior should be applauded considering they got what the wanted.

This is why speculation can be the biggest enemy because at the end of the day the deal is approximately what a lot of people probably assumed it would be the whole time. (Even from the so-called "insiders" who just earlier this morning said no progress and still remain far apart) Never felt a trade was desired on the front office side of things because Adam Peters is usually pretty direct with his intentions for players that he doesn't see being part of the future. I saw 28-32 per season as the range that would get a deal signed as soon as both parties were willing to negotiate within it. Everything beyond that might be fluff and a lot of interchangeable moving parts to make sure the contract is more team friendly than the surface level numbers appear to be because that is how Adam Peters has shown to operate.

Either way, glad the resolution happened, and now it's time for Terry reunite with the rest of the team and go to work to get ready for the season.

I really think Terry was seeking Chase and Jefferson money not Metcalf.

I agree. I think for some his image is going to be tarnished forever.

For others, I don't think they will know or care the details and will just keep buying #17 jerseys.

I gotta say, I’m really glad I stayed out of this thread until now lol…sounds like it was quite the echo chamber in here over the last 100 pages.

It could have been more unreasonable.

It didn't quite go plaid. In Redskins-speak, it didn't go quite extreme.
