I know, we are not used to adults running the show.

This is exactly why all of my posts in this thread have been even keel and level headed, because we literally had no clue what was really going on.

And everyone else is like "where there's smoke there is fire" but the problem is, the smoke wasn't even coming from any factual place. It was all rumors and speculation, or coming from one "source" then everyone ran with it.

I wonder if everyone who was having problems with Terry and how he handled this still has problems with him now that the deal is done.

Where there is smoke there is fire about what? Terry's ask? What the team offered?

If this ends up being the deal it feels like a compromise especially coming from the team. Among the smoke from Terry was he's insisting on 30 million plus otherwise he won't sign a deal -- that wasn't disproven just now, its exactly what happened.

Am curious though about how much of this if any is incentives versus straight money.

There has been some frustration growing over this especially with Terry and his agent. Hopefully Terry comes back to practice in shape and ready to go. If so - that first TD catch against the Giants will make most everyone forget about it.

I’m sure there are some face saving olive branches in this deal. When the real numbers are revealed, I bet it’s the deal that’s been there for awhile and it was take it or leave it time.

Am guessing the same but will see.

The "smoke" was Terry was insisting on 30 plus million at a minimum. And the team didn't want to go to 30.

Either the team caved or they have incentives to fluff up the contract into the 30s.

Maybe so. On the surface, it looks like Terry's insistence on 30 million and the 30 years old plus stuff is irrelevant prevailed.

But, there are ways to make a contract look bigger than it is so am waiting to see the details.

The tweet says "with upside can earn up to 96 million". Screams incentive laden which is logical. If he thinks he has no problem being productive in his 30s then he shouldnt be afraid of incentives.

Yeah I hope he can get in shape quickly for NY. i am gathering they have to slow play him some in week one to avoid injury.

As for do i feel better about Terry the dude, now? Not at all.

He was my favorite player coming into this off season. I've met him multiple times -- cool dude. I loved him before we drafted him and defended that pick when it happened on ES and he was my Avatar for years on ES.

How he handled this process -- the pouting, the shots at the FO, talking about himself in third person, holding out minicamp-camp, etc -- all the drama coming from him makes me see him as having some diva in him. Not the biggest diva. But he has some diva in him than I had no clue existed in the past. He's not a Mike Evans, Jefferson, Nuca, or name that low maintaiance high performing WR.

I still like him as a dude but don't love him any more. I don't see him the same way I once did. But l don't have to love the personality of every player on the team. Lets go win a SB.

I have no doubt that he will play as he usually does. That's basically all he's done his whole career. I don't see why it would be any different this year.

Based on the $30m signing bonus, my guess is this landed basically where I thought it was going to land, which is they essentially guaranteed this year and next year. Next year's salary might be as low as $1m, which allows the team to spreadh the $30m over the entire length of the contract.

The franchise tag for this year is $24m, next year is projected to be $28m.

So I'm guessing they essentially gave him next year up-front as a signing bonus, upped the salary for this year, and then have some fluff garbage in the back-end to let Terry not look completely ridiculous.

But as soon as you see the contract details, I think you're going to see the team basically signed a 2 year extension with an AAV of $28m.

That's my bet. We'll see in the next few days.

No doubt a "we won" leak by his agent. Devil is in the details (what's guaranteed over the life of the contract). That signing bonus says a lot, and may even be spread over multiple years. The rest is probably based in incentives, and I'd be interested in seeing if that final year is voidable.

Why does a player give a shit what the deal looks like?

If i was asking my boss for a raise and he was like no we cant give you the raise you want but here's what we'll do. We'll give you half that and we'll tell everybody you got all you wanted and more but actually they'll get the truth in a couple days, how's that sound?

I'd be like ummm ya no thanks.

I guess vanity is important to some people but ive always wondered why its so important for them to see this large number on paper when everybody is going to know the true deal in a few days anyway.

This is usually to make the deal look better then it is, I bet once the numbers come out we will find that the 3rd year is back heavy to up the APY. Or incentives to get it that high. The tweets have said he can earn up to 96m which indicates incentives.

He hasnt played well enough during his career to demand 32+ million, so he needs to play better then he has before. Barely getting past 1k yards a season is not that impressive, thats like 57 yards a game.
