The All Things Terry Thread

Sorry I work 80 plus hours a week and got fulled by a fake post I read. Obviously others let me know my mistake. But they were respectful and not a coward hiding behind their keyboard.

Happens to us all man! For the record, in the future it’s best to delete the post with the fake link
Terry's agent/wife maybe thinks he wont get his mega payday because Deebo will be eating up his stats.

I am fully convinced this is NOT his doing, he was talked into doing it; that demanding a new contract is all the rage and normal to go all in on himself at the teams expense, by ignoring existing contractual obligations.

Unbridled capitalism > everything else here in the USA.

It doesn’t matter whose idea it was, if he’s doing it then it IS his doing. You’re still responsible for the things you do after taking bad advice, it’s still your judgement being measured, in the end.

Speaking of Deebo, at the practice I was at, footage of seen, interviews, etc feels like Jayden and Deebo have gotten really close. I didn't sense Jayden and Terry were as close last year.

Deebo like Terry is on his last year of his contract -- and he comes off happy go lucky including in the practice I was at. Preparing to kill it to get the big contract. He's in great shape and used the preseason to develop chemistry with Jayden.

Deebo also turning 30. The contrast is telling.

As for the agent. Russini said Terry's agent and Terry are super close. As Corry said (ex-agent), its the agent's job to push for the wants of his player. So at a minimum Terry seems to be genuinely thinking this way. But I gather the agent could talk him off his high horse and isn't doing it.

During the game on Sunday it showed JD and Deebo sitting together on the bench a couple of times

I mean dude, it's literally like a 30 second clip out of a 4-5 hours day on the field for him.

It's amazing how much people are overreacting to things like this lol.

I get it, but it’s not just the clip fueling speculation. People at the game posted he was like that the entire time. Not his usual sideline presence or self. That’s a bad look when you could be cheering for your teammates trying to make their career happen, or give them advice like many of the vets do.

He’s totally allowed to hood up in the August heat and mind his own business. But since it’s not his usual behavior and his teammates have nothing to do with his contract situation, it certainly makes him look like a salty little bitch. That’s not “Terry Tax” (lol) behavior.

TM has stolen the jam out of my doughnut this off season.
Yes, it has completely changed the flavor of the off-season. I feel less informed on what the rest of the team looked like bc I kept clicking on this thread instead. We have a new O-line alignment with 2 new tackles, Yankoff might be good, The def secondary has new parts and I'm over here wishing JD5s Mom had sat between TM and his new wife before all thi sh*t started.

Seeing those videos of Terry either 1) being aloof and not interacting with teammates or 2) being mostly shunned by teammates just makes him look that much worse. If it's the former reason, then Terry is acting like a pouty, petty little bitch. If it's the latter, then Terry's teammates' opinions of his nonsense is absolutely damning.

If we win the first 3 out of four with him holding out his ass will get on the field. He's counting on us losing and hoping the pressure helps his check, for that McLovin himself too much can go ....add in your own fav phrase to end rant.

Yeah they were talking bunch in the practice i watched.

Deebo seemed like a cool dude, he was joking with a bunch of players, signed autographs for kids, etc.

Sure thing but its blind leading the blind.... noob agent wife and player... who is the expert in their room for him to believe? IMHO he thinks Buddy is the expert. Buddy is a nobuddy agent way in over his head taking on Peters.

For all we know he is telling his agent, lets end this and his agent is saying trust me, It's OK, I am a limo driver an agent, preaching patience. His wife telling him the same for all we know. Does every player trust their agent? I assume they all do otherwise they would get replaced.

There’s no reason fans on a message board can go on the internet and figure it out, but Terry can’t. If he’s in an information bubble listening to the wrong people, that’s on him. It all goes back to him. He’s a grown man. If he doesn’t know better, it’s on him. If he’s listening to the wrong people, it’s on him. If he’s hired the wrong expert, it’s on him. He’s not an ignoramus who can’t figure it out, but if he is….then that’s on him too. You’re infantilizing him here.

Do you think he's going to hold out from playing on game 1, or longer?

I would not expect that but it is an option. I hope he starts practicing this week. We have 13 days

You must have had some bad wife experiences

He will lose around $850k for every game he holds out. Thats money he’s not going to earn back - it’s gone forever. I can’t see the club increasing their offer to the extent he makes back what holding out for two or more games costs him.

If he holds out and costs himself game checks he’s either getting terrible advice or he’s an idiot.

He’s never stuck me as being an idiot - let’s see.

I would never, ever in a million years have even remotely considered this thought in the past regarding Terry, but now it's legit IMO: I could definitely see Terry holding out for a few games in the hope that we lose badly and it gives him more leverage to demand the huge amount of money he wants.

At this point I am kind of over the contract extension. I do hope both parties find a resolution to keep Terry here for 2-3 more seasons, but more than anything I just want to see a resolution for the season Terry is still under contract for. Once the final cuts happen Tuesday and the full focus of the team will be on their Week 1 opponent, there isn't really an excuse for Terry to not be on the practice field. We are at or very close to critical mass as far as Terry needing to be on the field getting work in, in order to be productive for the opener.

I see your point here, but the bottom line is TM has no leverage at all. If he sits out games hoping for failure, that's not really going to help his case

For one thing, he'd be forfeiting damn near a million per game. If you're griping about money, you can't exactly toss it out the windows cause life's so unfair to him.

And, suppose to does decide he can piss away a few million to take a stand against the powers that be over his ill-perceived slight, AP is not going to change his stance regardless of wins/losses. It's business and the current market.

One thing I'll echo is that, like a lot of posters here have said, he's getting some very unsound advice from folks in his inner circle. Most notably would be his agent, who I think we all can agree has in the very least shown he's been out 9f his depth in these negotiations (more leaning to complete incompetence).

At this point, I can't see TM sitting out games and losing that kind of bread even if it pisses him off. He should bet on himself (if he truly believes he's a top 5 receiver and therefore should be compensated as such) and go ball out.

He did show up for this last preseason game even if he seemed pissed off about. Honestly, it would make sense because he has come to the realization that he'll have to play this season without a new deal.

Stay tuned, folks.

HTTR!

The first game is now JUST under 2 weeks away.

I bet we hear the answer on Thursday. They will get through the cuts and initial PS stuff, then they'll turn their attention fully to Terry and make one final offer/push. And I'd bet that takes place on Wednesday, and I bet it's a "best and final" offer, and then Terry is going to have to choose to sign it, play on his current deal, or declare his intention to miss regular season games.

At which point, the team might send him home.

But I think Thursday is the day. I wouldn't be surprised if we heard something sooner, but if I had chips to put down, I'd put them on Thursday.

If I’m the the GM I want to know what the answer to the above is before I make my cut decisions. Don’t know if there is a way to force Terry to make the call before the deadline but I’d try.

I am sure they have been trying but I don't think he's going to. Also, I'm not sure what it matters. They're not going to cut him, he's going to be on the 53, and I don't think his being there or not being there will make Luke McCaffery better or not.

So he's on the 53, and then they'll deal with it. I don't think his answer would change, for example, if they keep 5, 6, or 7 WRs. Because after the next 2 (Brown and Lane), all are replacement level anyway.

I just got a text message from a family member that said Terry just signed a 3 or 4 year deal for $117. The internet has no clue about this signing and I reckon neither does the person that sent me the message. Got my hopes up darn it.
