Wolf: Patriots willing to trade a top draft pick to help team

Patriots executive Eliot Wolf said Monday that the team is open for business if a significant trade opportunity presents itself and indicated he'd be willing to trade a first- or second-round draft pick.

They’ll go after Parsons and then Hendrickson imo, we have nothing for them. Terry isn’t worth that and isn’t getting moved, and BRob is a minor addition and they have a good RB room
 
Yeah idk, I’m pretty over this guy. I want to win a SB with him of course but I don’t have any particular specific fandom of him in me right now. He’s a good player but he was a bit too lionized by all of us in the Snyder years as we grasped for anything resembling professional conduct. I maintain that he’ll be a footnote in Jayden Daniels’ early career history when it’s all said and done, if things go our way, and I’m fine with that. He’d have to re-sign and finish his career strong for me to consider him a Ring of Honor type years from now, and there was a time (especially after Daniels broke out immediately) where that felt like a given
 
 


Really bad look for Terry imo. Asking for the “good guy Terry Tax” and then not being there to cheer on your teammates (which has no impact on contract discussions whatsoever except for a selfish attempt to make a headline about him not being there)
 
One would think Hendrickson has a better chance of being traded as they drafted an edge at #17 in Round 1 and already have paid so many other guys top money.

He also lead the league in sacks.

Washington has McLaurin under contract and has cap space to accommodate some change to his current deal as part of extension.

And while Terry has been consistently good he has never had a 100 catch 1500 yard season like Lamb or Chase or Jefferson.
 
My personal attachment to Terry is less about on the field, and really just because I saw how much he gave the fans during camp. A lot of guys sneak iinto the locker room. Everyone wanted his time/autograph/etc. and he stayed out there forever taking photos and signing. My son being one of them. The coolest experience my son ever had with this team, that resparked his interest.

I always thought of him like ‘the guy you want your daughter to marry’. Just a good dude.

What he’s doing doesn’t make him a bad guy, but it’s almost entirely turned me off on him. I’m typically very pro-player, but watching a guy with no leverage try to hold the team hostage for a second big contract, is very off putting. Even not showing up tonight. Perhaps there’s a reason, but its just another log on the fire.

Yeah, Parsons and Hendrickson requests are not outrageous. Terry's request is high for his current value plus he wants the Terry Tax or TT.

Growing up the lady that lived next door had a real southern accent. When she was driving a bunch of us kids some place she'd say, "Ya'll go TT before we leave". To me the memory of that is priceless. The memory of Terry playing as well. However I am not giving either a plug nickle for the memories
 
I think Terry’s agent is mistaken in believing that Peters thinks Washington can’t win without his client.
 
If he cares about money, what's more important than a bump up in his salary is to NOT BLOW HIS MONEY like so many athletes seem to do. Buying overpriced mansions is the first step in failing to manage their millions. Also, trusting their agents and advisors. It's never a bad time to buy an overpriced mansion in a real estate bubble.... my ass.

I want Peters to hold the line and Terry to fire his agents and apologize for letting them convince him to get greedy. He's probably not at the stadium tonight so he doesnt get boo'd. Eventually, fans will tire of his trade request.

It's weird having a competent GM.

Terry can fuck off at this point. Play or we are better off without him.
 
Thing is, until Terry shows an indication he is willing to sit out actual regular season games, then regardless of contract negotiations we are reaching the deadline where he needs to be on the field putting in legitimate work with the starters if he wants to be his normal self for Week 1. If Terry is asking for what some are rumored to be suggesting, a trade is very unlikely as I am not convinced other teams would want to pay him that salary.

No his agent is right to think AP really wants Terry on the team and knows the team is much better with Terry.

He is dead wrong (apparently) to think that the team will cave to salary demands made in this fashion. Didn’t Aiyuk sit out into the season and get a good contract and then get injured? Maybe Terry (and Baker) is hoping the first part happens.

I am sure AP has plans laid out. It may be a staring contest of sorts. The leverage can shift wildly if Terry is actually willing to sit and the team struggles in ways that seem like they could be alleviated with his presence.

It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. I don’t expect TM to be willing to sit, but stranger things have happened.
