Threaten to trade him to the Browns.

Maybe that'll snap his agent out of the psychosis that's provoking him to ask Adam Peters for Justin Jefferson money for this 30 year old client.
 
It’s rare I garner that personal attachment to a player on this team. Terry was on that short list though. I can’t remember the last time I was this shocked by a players actions either. I just didn’t think this level of diva and entitlement was in him.

I would only trade him for a serious package. Otherwise make him sit and pout.

People can say for example Sutton saying he took less, may or may not be true -- but i loved him speaking about winning in Denver and helping them keep players and he didn't want to get in the way of that.

There is none of that from Terry. Terry is all about Terry in this context. And again, most players are, I don't blame them for it. But for Terry to say he's different. He's not that different when you factor how he approaches contracts. Evans is different. Godwin. Maybe Sutton. Josh Allen. L. David. On and on. Players who give and talk about the team in the context of their own money at stake.

Heck even Daron Payne, I liked his recent comments about how he's not worried about money, he's got all the money he'd ever need, he wants to win.

Terry is getting terrible advice. I did not think he was dumb enough to buy it. He’s in OJ land.

Unless some team offers a choice bundle of draft picks, including a first, I'd agree with this. He's under contract, and we can franchise him for the next two years if need be. I don't know who'd be willing to offer us a 1st, and then pay him $35M a year though. Probably no one.

Terry deserves a raise. He's only making $15M or so, and he's worth just about double that. But man, he and his agent are absolutely delusional if they are really seeking a Justin Jefferson type deal, when he's never come close to that level of production, and is almost 30. It feels like Terry is overplaying his hand a bit. We have a stud QB on a rookie deal, he's best WR on the team and the team needs him to win right now, so he's shooting for the moon for that monster pay day.

We love you Terry, but please come back to reality.

if terry and agent were smart they'd look past AAV and realize that dk's contract is, effectively, front loaded

He's overplaying his hand in a delusional way. He apparently wants to be paid as a top 2 WR, but not only is he not and never has been as good as Chase, Jefferson, or Lamb, but he's also 4+ years older than all of them.

The team has pretty much all of the leverage here. Terry is under contract for 2025, the team can franchise tag him through the end of 2027 if they want, and if he refuses to play then they can fine him every day and put him on the Reserve/Did Not Report list, which means he won't accrue a season of play this year and his contract will roll over into 2026.

And sans an offer of a 2026 1st + more, there's no chance the Commanders trade him.

Terry can either agree to a realistic contract extension, play on his current contract this season with no future security, or retire.

I doubt Peters and company would pull the trigger on any trade which isn’t a clear overpayment by the other team.

If there is a team willing to give up a first round pick + something and pay Terry $35+ million, I’ll eat my shorts.

I wonder if the trade for Deebo really got under Terry’s skin more than he let on. They are paying Deebo more this year than Terry, and maybe that irks Terry.
 
Sheehan made a comment weeks ago that 49ers/Peters has a record of getting these situations done in august. Theres no reason to rush when youre sitting flush
 
Yeah this doesn't feel good. I've been on Terry's side a lot, but it's getting harder and harder to justify it in my mind. There are certain benchmarks over the course of a career that tend to be remembered forever and this feels like one of those moments. Terry is a guy I want to retire here but it's not looking great.

That said, I’ve never thought her reporting was that good or well sourced. And successful GM could be Bruce Allen for all we know. He was executive of the year with the raiders. So it wouldn’t be an entire lie. (Though disingenuous at best.)

I think Deebo and Terry are at right around the same amount. Terry's base + roster bonus, etc. comes out to ~$20m and Deebo's comes out to about the same.

Yeah, maybe. Maybe it’s nothing. But all of a sudden Terry isn’t the only show in town and all of a sudden he’s being a bit of a brat

Also, I wonder if the commanders send him home now that he’s become a distraction to a higher level and he won’t practice.
 
Terry has to play for his next contract this year. Wed kind of be crazy to offer it to him beforehand wouldnt we?

Annoying it has got to this point. But it happens with some situations & agents, Aiyuk, Higgins, Lamar, and recently Myles Garret - all request trades....and re-sign with the team. 🤔

I think most good players tend to ask for new contracts when coming into their final season on their current one. And usually teams oblige out of good faith and because they want to reward good players and keep them around. But in this case, they're acting in good faith by agreeing to give him a new deal, but it sounds like Terry's side isn't, because they're asking for a completely unrealistic contract and then going public and whining when they don't get it.
