The All Things Terry Thread

As others have pointed out there isn't another team out there that is going to pay him what he wants and give up a high pick. Beyond that, he finally has a true franchise QB and an organization that is doing everything right where other players are wanting to come here. I imagine there are a few very good #1 receivers out there that would love to play with JD were it not for their current contracts. Him taking this step and saying he wants out just seems a bit silly. 3 or 4 years younger he would have a better case but his situation is rather unique and not the current Washington organizations fault. Agree with SIP and never thought I would think this of TM but "Diva". unfortunately sounds about right

he's bringing in too much emotion into negotiations with his "stand on business" mindset. it's fine to have a specific ceiling in mind but he has to be malleable as negotiations progress and the situation changes. given terry's nature, the only thing I can think the team might have done wrong is not engaging him throughout the offseason to soften him up and getting him socialized to their viewpoint. given the fact that buddy is a small-time agent, Terry probably holds more power in the dynamics of their player agent relationship and is more involved...so the silent treatment probably didn't help. all of this seems so similar to Jerry Maguire lol.

a front loaded, 28 million contract with additional performance incentives in his age 32 and 33 seasons to prove out what he believes he can do in the later stages of his career. please just get it done lol.

Called it earlier, trade Terry for Hendrickson and sign Amari Cooper for peanuts.

I'm much more inclined to pay a 30 yr old DE over a 30 yr old WR
It'd have to be a 3 team trade.
I cant think of anything the bengals need less than a 30 year old reciever making 35 million a year.

Terry probably allows the Bills or Chargers to take the next step and is worth a day two pick, but picks and the ridiculous contract he wants? Zero chance he gets traded.

At this point, I wish he would be though. He's a WR1 on our shit team for years, when he's a good WR2 on most teams. Then he gets overpaid on his second contract and won't finish it out? Lame. I hope he becomes a Brownie.

This team is arguably on the cusp of something great. That TM of all people may hamper that dream going forward irks me. Maybe he comes to an agreement within the next 2 weeks and its all water under the bridge but in the meantime it has to be not only a distraction but also hinders the install of the offense to a degree. Granted, TM may not need the individual reps like others but again...him not being there effects other aspects of the offensive install plan. Im hoping that in the end its is all about nothing but until then he has disappointed. He could have pulled this 2 or 3 years ago and in the grand scheme it wouldn't irk me so much, but based on where this organization stands its head scratching.

We'd need a 1st, a 3rd next year and a 2nd the following for me to even consider trading him, let him pull an AB and ruin his career and sit out. I still think a deal gets done but Terry burning all the fan loyalty he's built up as quickly as he can.

Yeah I am pretty done with Terry. He doesnt have leverage. Make him play, franchise him the next year, and be done with him. If he tries to pull not playing good luck with the fines and trying to get a 33+ million contract at 32.

I think this is all gamesmanship.

And I think Peters is better at it.
Unless his agent begged TM not start the "trade me stuff," his agent is an idiot. No leverage. Burning good will. Any agent that encouraged, approved, endorsed, or was silent regarding this might be on the list of all time worst NFL agents.

I realize that I'm just an old dude who could never have dreamt of being a professional athlete, so perhaps I don't understand how they think.

But you've already been paid tens of millions of dollars in your career so far, and are more than likely looking at close to another $90 million with your next extension. If you were even halfway smart with your money, you will never have to work again once you are done with football, your kids will never want for anything, and you'll be able to do basically anything that you want for the rest of your life.

Now, you're part of the best Washington team that you've ever been a part of, your QB is one of the best in the league, and right now, the sky is the limit.

At what point is enough money enough, and you'd rather have some Lombardi Trophies to put in that giant house that you can now afford?

Brady understood this. Mahomes understands this. I'm hoping Jayden will as well at some point...so why can't Terry?

To even consider?

For that id offer to give him a piggyback ride from Ashburn all the way to foxboro and id even carry his luggage.
If you had both arms under his legs for support during the piggyback ride, how would you carry his luggage as well? I'm not sure you thought this through...

Amen brother. He’s painted himself into a corner and it seems totally unnecessary. It feels like it’s all about his ego at this point.

And if he wants to sit out for a whole season, good luck with that working out. Le'Veon Bell says hello.

He's valuable to us and our offense, we are discounting too much his contributions, we're not a SB contender without him so the price needs to be steep.

Terry is better than Amari Cooper and Keenan Allen, but not that much better to be pulling this shit and with us adding Deebo and Fast Lane, our pass game isn't going to have such a huge drop off. With JD5 throwing the ball and our run game, even a cat like Osborne can get 1k yards playing outside.

Terry is making a joke out of himself.
