You guys on this board better be right about Tyson's injuries following him or we are in trouble for a decade. Next year we may have to deal with Brown & Smith in Philly, Ceedee & Pickens in Dallas, and Nabers & Tyson in NY
It was like yesterday when Daron Payne like Dexter Lawrence was ranked as the 17th best player in the NFL.
The beat guys are on drugs when they say Payne at best might bring a 5th rounder.

Yes, it’s our fault.
While it sucks that trhe Giants have all this draft capital, its not the end of the world. Lawrence has been the guy on their D line, he's the guy that got the most attention so it should weaken that unit.
If you hear for example Logan Paulsen talk about Lawrence and how to stop him, you'd think they'd be playing against King Kong.
While that may be enough time to add depth, it's a lot harder to reconfigure the entire offseason defensive plan without Lawrence. New defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson was especially bullish on keeping Lawrence this offseason, even though the team received calls about potential trades, a source told ESPN.
After internal discussions, the Giants were intent on moving along with Lawrence in the middle of their defense, in part because he's a player who demands respect. Lawrence was second among all players last season with a 55.5% double-team rate, according to NextGen Stats. He was still fourth on the Giants with 14 run stops.

In the process, Lawrence became the Giants' first defensive lineman to make three consecutive Pro Bowls since Hall of Famer Michael Strahan. He is also the franchise's first interior defensive lineman to earn three Pro Bowl selections since Rosie Grier in 1953, 1956, and 1960.
"I thought he should have been [Defensive Player of the Year] with the season he had," an NFL personnel director said, according to ESPN. "He's a true zero-technique nose who can occupy doubles and neutralize the run game. I think he took his pass rush to a different level, and I think he would have had double-digit sacks if (Brian) Burns and (Kayvon) Thibodeaux stayed healthy. A true three-down game wrecker who needs attention every single snap."

Dexter has never came close to Paynes sack totals ,and pressures don't mean shit when it can be subjective to personal opinion..Why does NY's defense suck worse than Washingtons in rushing and sacks if he is so good along with all the other !st round picks they got on the DL?

You are going wildly on an island that Payne is as good as Lawrence. It's not even remotely a conversation.
It's like saying Luke McCaffrey is better than Amon-Ra-St Brown.
Payne's one off good season doesn't define his career, I wish it did.
Payne is not even in conversation for a top 10 DT, let alone top 5, he is barely even in conversation for top 20. But yeah if Payne's whole career was defined by his one off outlier great season, it might be an interesting conversation but alas it was a wild outlier. Dexter Lawrence has been a consistent stud.

Lawrence is an immensely better player than Payne. He basically triples the next best player in pressures while double-teamed over the last couple years. It’s not all in the counting stats.
You are being extremely confidently incorrect, just trust us
How? he beats Dexter in every single stat that isn't personal opinion like pressures.
Yet still give up more rushing yards and generate less sacks.
Dexter in the last three seasons averaged an 86 PFF grade, Payne 57.9. Dexter with 135 pressures. Payne with 99. And Dexter is great against the run, Payne just OK. And these scores would be even more lopsided if we did their full careers but it factors Lawrence's only down season.
I wish the NFL saw Payne the way you did. But there is a reason why beat reporters think we can get a mid round pick at best for Payne versus the Giants getting a top 10 for Lawrence.
His one outlier season and career is still better than Dexter's..
