Nicki doesn’t really make mistakes or retract direct reports, she’s pretty conservative. If she’s got it out there, it’s done imo

Von has been big time in the post season. He was if I recall top 10 in pass rush win rate via PFF last year. Leader type.

Age. Maybe Durability. So so at this stage against the run.

But I'd presume at this stage, use him as a third down speclalist.

Especially with this team hopefully headed to the playoffs again, I value guys that play at their best when the lights are brightest -- and among the pass rushers left, Von IMO was that guy.

Shortly after this year’s NFL Draft, the Houston Texans signed second-round pick Jayden Higgins to a rookie contract.
It was the kind of routine move that ordinarily might go unnoticed, except in this case it came with a twist that few around the league saw coming.
The Texans awarded Higgins a fully guaranteed contract, the first ever for an NFL draft pick selected in the second round or later. The former Iowa State wide receiver will bank $11.7 million over the next four years even if he sustains a career-threatening injury or the Texans sour on him and release him.
Higgins’ historic contract has triggered a league-wide standoff. Agents for other second-round picks are pushing for fully guaranteed deals — or at least for more guaranteed money than previous players in their draft slot have secured. NFL teams have been reluctant to set an unfavorable precedent by making such concessions.

Best stat I can share regarding Miller is that he has started fewer than 11 games in his career (since 2011) only twice. His game might not be where it was years ago, but he will be available and dependable. In a rotation, that works.

Love the signing considering what is still available.

Much rather have an elite talent playing for us a fraction of the time in key situations than an average guy playing for more.

Should hopefully also help mentor our young pass rushers.

When Clowney became free, he leapfrogged Von with me. So lol, love it if they signed him still. Am guessing that's unlikely.

But I preferred Von over Z. Smith, Preston Smith.

I think with the motivation of it being likely his last season and a shot at a SB we get his best for one last go.

I wonder what the terms are for VonMIller.. i am thinking around 10mil? One thing you can say about Peters.. the guy is all in!
I called that the team would make a big signing at DE.. i would guess he'll be used sparingly through the season to keep him fresh for the playoffs. I like the signing.. not sure he has much left in the tank, but our young pass rushers being mentored by a hall of famer DE... could pay dividends.

Adam Peters likes to fill positions of need with aging stars on short term deals (or maybe he has no choice after inheriting a team that had drafted poorly).

Those old veterans worked out great last year with guys like Wagner, Ertz, and Ekeler. We will soon see about Lattimore, Deebo, and Miller. We may have the oldest roster in the league, but I do think the vets contribute a lot of experience, wisdom, and leadership to the culture, and I just like rooting for the old timers.

I'd be surprised if its that high, I guess will see.
