The 2025 Free Agency Thread

Really good tackling grades via PFF. A ton of love from the Pats media and their fans. lol, this feels at least from a reputation standpoint -- its the opposite from the Jets and the NY media crapping on the Kinlaw signing.

I disagree with Tyler. If his tackling is a major strength, I think you keep Sainristil outside and keep Jones inside. I think I remember Bullock saying that Sainristil did struggle a bit with run fits as a rookie

Not sure using examples from Snyder is really a fair comparison. A GM who knows what he’s doing absolutely can pick his spots to go after premium players in FA.
Exactly what Peters is doing, he is just not overpaying. He has fixed CB, OL, WR at relatively low cost with high quality players at low cost compared to the "90% of the Free agents the first day that were overpaid"

Maybe so. I do think Sainstrill was good outside. I get that conceptually the local media keeps saying Sainristill belongs in the slot -- because of his size and the fact that he played there in college but I think he actually played better on the outside and to your point wasn't always hot against the run.

Has Jonathon Jones been signed to function as another Bobby Wagner? It feels like in some of these short term deals, Peters is prioritizing savvy and leadership over physical talent.
Great chance for Mikey, Noah I(if he stays) and any draftee to fast track their learning with both Lattimore and now Jones in the room

I’m talking about premium players, and he’s done a good job bringing a couple in via trades. he’s definitely a GM who knows what he’s doing, and so I would trust him to also spend up for somebody in free agency. I think we pretty much agree on all of this, I was just pointing out that Snyder having failed at something isn’t a good reason not to do it if you have competent people making the decisions. Hell, Snyder had many years during the Bruce era where he wasn’t going after premium free agents, and he failed that way too.

Sainristil's size will sometimes work against him. He's a very good tackler and a very willing tackler, but sometimes you can't overcome physics.

Dan Snyder never had a Jayden Daniels on a rookie contract. Just saying.

To add to that.... we crucify Snyder over his FA moves, which absolutely sucked.... however, that's just as much and indictment of his unwillingness to hire a true GM and quality front office personal as it is his willingness to splurge in FA.

My point in this is that you can't scream DAN SNYDER, everytime we are aggressive in FA or trades... we actually have professionals making those decisions... a far cry from Snyder and his clowns.

of the remaining team FA this is who I would like to see signed

WR Noah Brown
WR Jamison Crowder
OT Trenton Scott
C Michael Deiter
Edge Clelin Ferrell
Edge Dante Fowler Jr.

Thank you that was a much better explanation of what I was trying to say 😁

I think that we are seeing that's Peter's principle.

With free agency, AP values savvy, solid play, and leadership. He wants solid veterans. It feels like he takes his swings during the drafts and in the trade market.

I still think we are in the mix on trading for Hendrickson. Wouldn’t surprise me if this latest report of the Bengals wanting a 1st+ was their last call for offers. Ship the 2 and 4 now and trade down from 29 to recoup a couple picks. Round out free agency with more signings like today. Compete for the Super Bowl.

Has Iggy been signed? I thought he was okay last year.

At this point, I believe you need any and all corners brought in through FA to be upgrades over Davis and BSJ, as you like what you have in Lattimore and Mikey. It all facets, Jones accomplishes that with his starting experience and vet savvy. In some regards, he reminds of when we brought in an experienced Walt Harris many years back, who played some decent football for us. I think this move signals that we will search hard for a corner who can immediately come in and contribute relatively quick with one of our first three picks in April to solidify our defensive backfield core for years to come alongside Sainristril. Provided you hit on that player, you have some flexibility when it comes to deciding if you will keep Lattimore around for the long haul.

Anyone think we should talk to Kupp about what he is looking to be paid and if its not too much get him here?
A lot of the board seems to be excited about the idea of Kupp. I really want another speed guy that can stress the defense.

Of the available FAs, is there anyone left that really fits that description?

Are there any decent burners out there in FA ? I do however that is easier to get in the draft
I don't think there are (others know more than I do) I think for speed we have to go to the draft. I don't know that I care if our burner is at WR or RB, but I definitely think we need one more HR hitter.
