I think you’re not quite grasping how big a step up Tunsil is in pass protection and all the downstream schematic benefits of that. It’s not even a criticism of Coleman to make this trade in reality, it’s nearly impossible to get elite LT play in the 3rd round. He can still be a great player on our OL.

Fair enough to trust the front office. So lets let a vast improvement now to be expected by our offense, as the non primitive measuring stick on such a huge move like adding an elite LT. I personally don't like to count them chickens before they hatch and temper expectations, but to each his own. Again I like the move and hope we don't have to win games on the final play as much next year but I will say this, I suspect getting 13 wins (to top last year) may not be as easy as you think.

Counterpoint, I think you’re not quite grasping how much JD5 makes our offense hum no matter who is at LT. Sure Kliff will call a few more plays that demand the pocket be clean (less screens) but in the end, JD5 makes it work.
 
I think with Lattimore, they see how he looks early in the season before they extend. Same with Samuels. Does anyone know how many players we have under contract so far.

Lost in the shuffle of going out and acquiring guys from other teams' rosters is the fact that Noah Igbinoghene is still out there. At 25 years old, he has a lot of room to grow and had a bit of a revival with WSH last year. He was quietly one of our best two corners last year and I think it is really important to bring him back.

I agree but dissapointed with Ledyard who actually does study film and i like his draft takes. It's not that I need him to like the moves. But it comes off a bit dishonest when he praises a move a week earlier, then he doesn't like the next move, so then he trashes both moves including the one he previously praised. And its the same guy who crapped on the previous off season. lol, you figure Peters would earn some benefit of the doubt considering he has already proven him wrong.

Except for the fact that I think Peters knew he was giving up draft capital in the Tunsil trade.

So, given that he was only going to have two premium picks in the draft, he probably figured he wouldn't be able to address the D Line with multiple picks. Now, I'm not sure that Kinlaw should have been the guy, but we do need a space eater. We have penetrators in Newton and Payne. The question is can Kinlaw fill that role and make Luvu and Wagner look even better?

I have no inside knowledge what so ever... but if I were trading my LT on a competitive team, I wouldn't do it without thinking through all the possible options and outcomes. I'd guess this has been an ongoing conversation for a while. Maybe not plan A or B.... who knows, but we've probably been talking to them for a while.

Love the Tunsil acquisition but I'd be lying if I said I didn't have some initial disappointment about this Holland signing and the Charvarius Ward signing. In fact, I had to re-read the posts here 3 or 4 times to let those sink in. Despite it all, in AP we trust.

Hope we kill it in the draft. I'd be excited to see us come away with any of the following later in the draft:

Smael Mondon Jr. LB Georgia - Early special teams contributor and developmental project
Tate Ratledge OG Georgia - Potential rotation guy with Andrew Wylie and Nick Allegretti while Brandon Coleman takes over RT.
Ozzy Trapilo OT Boston College - BC always produces good to great linemen
Jalen Travis OT Iowa State - Someone on BGO mentioned him after a Logan Paulsen podcast and everything since makes him one of my favorite late picks
Ryan Fitzgerald PK Florida State - has got leg power and consistency but lack of experience in cold weather
Andres Borregales PK Miami - Less power that Ryan F. but more experience in cold weather
 
I would think that something like Tunsil wouldn't be a spur of the moment thing, but one long in the works.
 
I think Washington was waiting on Ronnie Stanley but had the idea that Baltimore was not going to let him go.

I am sure they spoke to Houston in the offseason about Tunsil in some regard if Houston gave indication he might become available.

He graded out poorly last season though as per PFF (not that they are the be all and end all) and doesn’t tackle well or get off blocks in run support.

Not sure what the plan is at corner but I don’t think Samuel is an upgrade. We need an outside corner so we can move Sainristil to slot where he does his best work. Not sure where we get one who can walk in and start now though.

Corner and Edge seem like the two big areas we still need to address somehow in the rest of free agency and the draft. That and the third receiver.

He got a noticeable pay bump on AAV vs what he’s been making past few years. We’d been paying him in that $2m-$3m range

Been saying it for awhile, giants are a QB away and they will easily be contenders again in the East and NFC… Tracy the rookie RB looks like he’s going to be nice and their D has some horses… I could easily see them challenging for the East Title in 2025… ppl may laugh but Aaron Rodgers there and he stays healthy they are legit imho… the old NFC East again baby
 
Third receiver should be a low budget slot on this team, either draft pick or veteran free agent at mid-tier for one or two years.

At this point the edge rusher is going to come from the draft.

I don't see Washington spending mega bucks on another DL after signing Kinlaw and still having to pay megabucks to Daron Payne.
 
If Quinn goes back to the big run stuffing DE concept he had in Seattle. It makes it more likely we still are in the market for Trey Hendrickson (or use pick #29 for Ezeiruaku or someone). You need a horse with a green light on the other side to attack how they want, then someone is nearby to fill holes created by them cheating. That someone would be shifted more towards the center usually but with a large run stuffing DE on the opposite side you can be more assured that containment will happen.

I always liked that concept. You've got a defense that's schemed up to accentuate specific personnel.

Hurts and Daniels are light years better than Aaron Rodgers at this point of their careers.

NY made a big mistake by not taking a quarterback last year when several were available on rookie deals to take advantage of.

I think Michael Penix is going to blow up in Atlanta and the Bucs are going to have their hands full next year in that division.
