The 2025 Free Agency Thread

Whats up with the tweets all now ending with names of the agents who negotiated the contracts?

It feels like the inevitable progression towards "brought to you by carls jr"

heisenberg That way you know who sponsored the tweet. These insiders get “paid” one way or the other.

I could care less about JLCs take, but just wondering what point he is trying to make. Are we supposed to be losing sleep over giving up a 5th for Deebo? A relatively modest haul for a proven LT in Tunsil? Will we be kicking ourselves for not outbidding teams on some of these MASSIVE contracts? The off-season is literally 6 hours old and we have improved our team without breaking the bank, and still have a lot of money to spend for guys who can contribute and still have our 1st and 2nd rounders. Just an odd take from an "expert".

Pats added Williams and Landry over the past couple of days. Kind of what I had in mind. Like what they have done so far. Their front 7 is going to be much improved this year.

The Kinlaw one is a bit of a surprise. He is 320 pounds with long arms, but traditionally he has not been a nose tackle type where you want him taking on double teams. He is more of a pass rusher who can get in the backfield against the run or can shed a block with his long arms if blocked by one guy in the run game, but not a player you want taking on double teams. Quinn doesn't seem to value the nose tackle types so in some way this meshes with what Quinn has done in the past, but a surprise as I don't think any of us had Kinlaw on our guys to watch list and I personally thought of him an as just a decent rotation piece in that 8 to 10 million range. But Peters obviously believes in Kinlaw and hopefully he is right.
I also didn't have Tunsil on my radar, but he is a pleasant surprise. Heard he was not having a great season in Houston, but then checked his PFF grade at the end of the year and he was still good. He is an elite pass blocker and will really lock down that side. His reputation as a run blocker is average. I would say that is the difference between him and Trent Williams the past five years. They were neck and neck (not counting Wirfs who only moved to teh left side this past year) for best pass blocking LT in the NFL , but Williams was also a very good run blocker whereas Tunsil is fine as a run blocker, but not giving you anything you could not get from a cheaper option as a run blocker (he may not be an upgrade as a run blocker over Coleman). That said having one piece you can automatically count on in pass protection should make sliding protection or chipping to the other side a bit easier. I am excited about Coleman possible sliding in to Guard. I do believe that is his natural position, much like when Cosmi moved into Guard.
In terms of losing Dyami and Chinn I am okay with it though I was kind of hoping to get both of them back. Dyami's last impression in Washington was pretty good, but for most of the four years here he didn't do much. I didn't want to overvalue the last impression so I am okay with letting him go though I would have been happy to bring him back if a market for him had not materialized. With regards to Chinn, I thought he played reasonably well last year with a 69 PFF grade and was hoping to get him back, BUT hes a replaceable player even if I would have liked to get him back. A good run defending safety with some limitations in coverage is not difficult to find even if its not a given his replacement is as good as him.

JLC is probably upset because zero of his predictions came true. He has nothing to hang his hat on as an insider. Because of that, he takes the low road and implies Peter’s screwed up.

DQ's Red Bryant from his days in Seattle.

Kinlaw's reputation has not been as a nose tackle type. though He can defend the run but its more by penetrating or using his long arms to shed a single blocker. He has never been a nose tackle type (1 or 2 technique) guy that is good at taking on double teams. He has been more of a 3 technique guy (on the guards outside should where it would be harder for center and guard to double him). Not saying he absolutely cannot do that, but it hasn't been reputation. His reputation for taking on double teams is meh. I just don't think Quinn really values NT types.

uses the suffering of this fanbase as a springboard to his NFL network career and beyond...still doesn't have the decency to fix his crossed eyes.
It’s a face only a mother can…nope…she hates his ass too

Seriously though, how bad do you have to be to model your look after Drew Carey?

Someone needs to compare his Jets tape vs his SF tape but he apparently bulked up to 330 from 310 for the Jets last year so his game could've evolved to allow Quinnen to avoid the dirty work.

EDIT: Well that Chad Forbes tweet answers it.
