The 2025 Free Agency Thread

I think it's worth it to point out the similarities between what transpired in FA at OT, and what is transpiring at edge. At OT, every guy was getting signed, it looked like we were doing nothing, and, boom, trade for a franchise LT. And now, all the edges have been getting signed, while it looks like we've been sitting idle....
I bet Peters can walk and chew gum at the same time. There's no doubt in my mind that he or one of his lieutenants were working the phones and presenting offers. That they couldn't come to an agreement isn't a sign of idleness.

I'm alluding to the possibility of trading for Hendrickson. I don't think we go into FA with our biggest stated need at edge, and then just cross our fingers and hope a guy falls to 29 that can make a big impact this year.
We might. That's what we did with OT last year. Then, we waited until the third round.

I think Coleman has a world of potential. Don't give up on him yet. Remember, he was a rookie who played without a single preseason snap or rep because of injuries.
I didn't even think about Coleman moving all the way over to the right side. Hopefully that transition works for him it doesn't always work for everyone.

I'm nooooooot saying we were being idle. Also, don't read my tone as adversarial. You and I are saying the same thing. For sure we are working on upgrading edge, and we are only 5.5 hours into free agency. The fact that we haven't announced an agreement doesn't mean that we couldn't come to an agreement.

What I am saying is that I have faith in this staff and if we didn't sign anybody at edge, despite a glaring need, that we have something else that we are working on and are going to pull off.

It might be a difficult move, not sure he has ever played there

Worse case scenario, Coleman is our starting LG. That's not a bad thing as he played it in CFB and is probably an upgrade over Allegretti. Allegretti moves to RG and Wylie to RT. I'd think we upgrade at RT somehow.

The crazy thing about Coleman is in college and the pros he has never played the same position in consecutive years. That's one more reason I think the kid once he gets a position will eventually be really good. He just needs some stability.

Be nice to get one more deal done today. Corner? Safety? Probably not edge.
