My gut is we go a different direction next year. Actually or later this year. We could still draft a WR, resign Terry, have success with Deebo and sign a guy like Slayton or Palmer and maybe even McCaffrey balls out. Possibilities are endless with AP. Feels so different than the past 2 decades, we can speak positively about the future without cringing.

Cutting Darius Slay after winning the Super Bowl with 2 rookies drafted the same year and him on the staff. Now looking to get some savings and re-sign who is needed, with that group (DBs) on rookie contracts.
They are in that rotational phase of assets that we need to get to. 1-year contracts and management that looks at different spans of years along with emphasizing the draft can get us to the "rotational phase" - we don't put a noose we can't get out of while we build in that direction. You can afford a QB in that circumstance as well, if you manage the other aspects really well, plus most likely get a little luck too.

I am fine with Slay on a 1 or 2 year gig. He is lightyears better than anyone we had opposite Lattimore last year. Everyone wants to go young. But we are going to be very restricted in draft picks this year. More trades are coming.
Who isn't light-years ahead of many of our CBs opposite Lattimore or Mikey.
Whether drafting a CB or bringing in a FA, they will be younger than Slay and more talented than what we had last year.
Regarding age, we brought a number of aged vets that worked out very well. They were there to sprinkle in with the new roster. The talk is to bring them all back. Our team is already one of the oldest in the NFL. That isn't the way to build a dynasty, which is what I'd like to see with the new regime

Brother we only have 6 picks right now. And again more trades are coming imo. We are going to have no choice about signing vets to plug holes.

Just keep in mind, Slay only wants to play one more year - this is what he said anyway.
I don't think he joins the Commanders, but if he does, he would be a one-year gap-fill type of person.
I also don't really want him, ideally - I hope we can do better elsewhere. I am just generally not a fan of pilfering from division rivals, but especially guys who seem really fond of their old teams. I am not sure Slay would even want to be here; he seems to be talking a lot about the Lions since he was a former Lion. Somehow I feel if he joined the Comms, he'd get called for DPI a lot all of a sudden.

There are a lot of CBs I’d rather have than Slay but I would be completely fine if they signed him. I could see him going back to Detroit or home to Atlanta
I agree. There are a lot just in others the staff and AP are more familiar with and would probably choose over Slay. There are a lot of good CB's in FA and the draft.
Moving to FS - I keep looking at Moehrig and thinking perfect fit young, impactful STUD.
This is what I'd like to see happen if it's possible.
Sign Lucas. He has been incredibly valuable and incredibly underappreciated.
Find the best LG you can sign in free agency. Not sure who that player is, I'll let the pros decide that, but a real upgrade over Alleghretti. Then roll with BadAss, New Stud and Coleman on that side.
Alleghreti now can slide to RG until Costmi returns
Hold your nose and roll out Wylie again because he played much better than we realized. Lucas is the fallback should the LT and RT fail or be injured.
In the draft land a really good OG and/or OT prospect and load the pipeline with OL prospects. .
These moves are not enough to make an average OL an OL that we really like. But it's a start, and the draft may pay dividends.
