The 2025 Free Agency Thread

Thanks for the blocking reference. If we could sign Godwin, we would seem strong at WR next year.

WR Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Godwin has consistently displayed reliable hands, dropping fewer than 6% of catchable passes in six of his first seven NFL seasons. He was on pace to maintain that standard in 2024, earning an 85.7 PFF receiving grade through nearly seven weeks without a single drop on 52 catchable targets. However, Godwin sustained a season-ending left ankle dislocation. He is no stranger to entering free agency with an injury, and hopefully, the recovery will be even quicker this time around. https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-2025-nfl-free-agent-rankings

Good call. Godwin could be great depending on his health and cost. But I think he would fit here.

The benefit here is that outside of potentially KC, what better landing spot for a receiver (assuming the $ is similar) than Washington with Jayden Daniels and Terry McLaurin on the opposite side drawing double teams? Plus DQ, the culture, team on the rise, etc. etc.

It's surreal that we've gone from the double whammy of Snyder Tax + QB Wasteland Tax to Favored Destination. That kind of competitive advantage is a positive feedback loop and I've never experienced it as a fan (32 years old).

As exciting as this season has been, I'm almost more excited for the offseason and the roster building I expect from AP... I mean let's be honest, winning 11/12 games is fantastic but Michael Davis and Trent Scott playing meaningful snaps is borderline football terrorism.

Man we're knocking on the doorstep of being a SB contender and y'all are talking about Keenan Allen and Deandre Hopkins. Think bigger! Go for Higgins and if not him, Chris Godwin. Draft a guy, too. It's time to push in the chips in FA while Jayden is on his rookie deal.
Yeah, this is where I’m at too. We’re a team full of mostly ok to pretty good players… I’d like to shoot for adding a couple of good ones in FA. Receiver and corner seem the most doable on that front, and significant upgrades at those spots should also have a trickle down effect for us - lightening the boxes against our O, allowing our D to put another player in the box vs the run, etc.

Depends where you want to add them. I think we need to add at least a couple more blue chip players talentwise. That could be Trey Smith and Khalil Mack.

If they did that, I’d be totally fine if they added 2 of Thielen, Allen, Hopkins to the receiving corps on 1 year deals

I think this is the approach, by necessity. We need more blue chip guys, or at least, really good players. There is only so much available in FA, and we are likely picking at 26 in the draft, so you can't count on any particular thing there. We need to grab the best talent in FA, where talent is available. And since we have needs everywhere other than QB, that should be easy. We aren't getting an impact OT in FA. But, we need WR and there is a good one available that would complement what we have in Terry, in Higgins. There are CB's and edge rushers, and we need both. There is IOL, and we could at least look at LG. We should just be grabbing the best players that are a culture fit, at positions of need.

I might be more into Chris Godwin, who doesn't have the same injury history and is also an excellent blocker which is important in our scheme.
Yes… Yes and a triple Yes!!!…. Godwin has the same make up, personally and attitude as Scary Terry does… they are professional on and off the field and their not me 1st guys…. And being a PSU guy myself, I always want a Nittany Lion on the team

I’m not sure how many guys would be a bigger risk injury wise? He’s had an ACL, and will be coming off a season ending surgery for an ankle dislocation. How do we have any idea what we are getting?

What about FA OL? Who is available that is solid?

I don’t follow the rest of the league very closely, so genuinely curious if, aside from Smith, any of these guys are clear upgrades over what we have currently.

He came back from the ACL and put up a couple 1,000 yard seasons and then had an unrelated ankle injury from which he’s expected to fully recover. I’m not worried about it.

2. G Trey Smith, Kansas City Chiefs

Smith's 80.4 PFF overall grade currently ranks 10th among all guards this season, and he will still be only 25 years old when free agency opens. That's a good combination for a big payday, given that multiple players at the position signed deals at or exceeding $20 million per year in 2024.

The complicated element when projecting a contract for Smith is the reason he fell to the end of the sixth round in the 2021 NFL Draft: He was diagnosed with blood clots in his lungs. On the field, he is every bit of a prized free agent. Factoring in his health is the key question.

8. T Ronnie Stanley, Baltimore Ravens

It's hard to argue that any player has improved their stock more this season than the Ravens' left tackle. After a devastating ankle injury in 2021 seemed to stall his career, Ronnie Stanley is finally back to top form in 2024, posting an impressive 80.0 PFF pass-blocking grade through the first 12 weeks.

17. T Cam Robinson, Minnesota Vikings

Robinson was part of a Jaguars team that had a dismal start to 2024. But individually, he was a reliable option at left tackle before being acquired by the Minnesota Vikings at the trade deadline. His 95.5 pass-blocking efficiency rating so far this year would be his worst since 2019, but if anything, that's a testament to his play over the past four years.

22. C Drew Dalman, Atlanta Falcons

There aren’t many long-term answers in free agency at center, which will make Dalman the primary beneficiary if he reaches the open market. Any team that deploys an outside-zone rushing scheme will be all over the former fourth-round pick. Dalman has room to grow as a pass protector but is one of the best run-blocking centers in the NFL and will advance the continued growth of the interior offensive line market after Kansas City Chiefs center Creed Humphrey finally reset the center market.

24. G Will Fries, Indianapolis Colts

Fries has shown tremendous strides over the duration of his rookie contract and could be the next guard to cash in during the free agency period after a wave of big deals landed in 2024. Unfortunately, Fries fractured his tibia in Week 5 against the Jacksonville Jaguars and underwent immediate surgery, but he had earned an 86.8 PFF overall grade up to that point on 268 snaps.

25. G Teven Jenkins, Chicago Bears

Jenkins is a force to be reckoned with on most Sundays; the issue over his career thus far has been getting on the field on Sundays. There are some occasional whiffs to clean up in pass protection, but it can’t exactly help his pass-set footwork going from right tackle to left tackle to left guard while also rehabbing a bunch over his rookie contract. Fellow 2021 second-round draft pick Sam Cosmi signed a four-year, $74 million extension with the Washington Commanders before the 2024 campaign, which could serve as a favorable comparison for Jenkins, as Cosmi also kicked inside from tackle to guard and missed some time to injury through his first three seasons.

27. G Kevin Zeitler, Detroit Lions

After spending the past three years in Baltimore, Zeitler joined Detroit, which has been a near-seamless fit. Zeitler's 80.2 PFF overall grade is his best since 2016, and his 78.6 PFF run-blocking grade is his highest in 10 years. The 34-year-old could be a cheap yet effective guard option on the open market.

28. G James Daniels, Pittsburgh Steelers

Daniels was turning in a career year, but unfortunately, he tore his Achilles in Week 4. The 27-year-old was solid in his first two years with the Steelers, recording PFF overall grades above 61.0, but showed some liabilities in run blocking. There should still be a solid market, given Daniels' age and experience (already seven years).

29. T Tyron Smith, New York Jets

Given Smith's age, teams may not want to commit to him long term, but he remains a solid option at left tackle. His 75.6 PFF overall grade before his injury ranked 25th among all tackles, making him a worthwhile short-term investment for teams seeking offensive line stability. Unfortunately, another injury landing Smith on injured reserve raises questions about whether the longtime stalwart will seek to continue playing in 2025 and beyond.

41. G Mekhi Becton, Philadelphia Eagles

Becton is the latest in a very long line of star pupils to attend Jeff Stoutland University in Philadelphia, working with arguably the league’s best offensive line coach to get his career back on track. A kick inside to guard for 2024 may not be a permanent move for Becton, as the Eagles have possibly the best tackle tandem in the NFL, but his demonstrated versatility across the line is only a good thing.

46. T Alaric Jackson, Los Angeles Rams

The former undrafted free agent out of Iowa has settled in quite nicely over the past few years protecting the blindside of Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, with a career year across the board in 2024 coming at just the right time.

47. T Dan Moore, Pittsburgh Steelers

Moore has really rounded out his game over the course of his rookie contract and appears to have taken a major step forward in 2024 after consistent struggles in pass protection over his first three seasons. With the extension of Jacksonville Jaguars tackle Walker Little, Moore and Los Angeles Rams tackle Alaric Jackson stand to benefit as the young, potential multi-year solutions at left tackle who are hitting free agency.

I wouldn't spend big on OL. Our IOL is good, Coleman is developing and Wylie is solid. If there are upgrades available in the draft or depth available in FA, go for it. But I'd rather spend big $$ on WR/CB/Edge.

Not sure if I am real positive about those offensive linemen available in free agency. It seems WR and CB and maybe edge is the place to go there. I would like to see IDL, OT and maybe edge picked with our first 3 picks if one is close to BPA. Edge seems real deep in the draft. Later, I would like guard center and IDL if we do not get one early.

TE is a wild card based on how the staff feels about Sinnott

I wish we could lock onto a solid quarterback it's been two decades or more

Not a FA signing but Tyreek Hill essentially said he wants to leave Miami in his post-game conference. He seems like an AB-type culture-wise, but the talent is undeniable... very tradeable contract post-June 1. If Cincinnati holds onto Higgins and Tampa holds onto Godwin, I'm just saying...

This will be the second team he has quit on. Pass.

Did he quit on the Chiefs or did they trade him because they didn't want to extend him?
Yeah a bit harsh to say he quit on the Chiefs, but he requested a trade when the Chiefs extension offer wasnt as high as he wanted.
