Egbuka has been a workhorse for Ohio State. When I watch one of their games, he seems like the guy who is always there when they need the play. Maybe he's not a highlight real guy, but he has been a huge factor in their success.

Terry was one of my favs before that draft. I recall having to defend that pick to others. So I recall his college play well. Terry was sneaky good during his last season at Ohio State. If I recall he had around a 20 YPC, was their deep ball guy that season, 700 plus yards even though he wasn't their featured WR. Known as a really good run blocker and special teams guy, too. Combine that with a killer combine and a killer Senior Bowl. Played a lot of Z.

Egbuka on the other hand has the most yards in Ohio State's history for a WR. More of a short yardage guy. Slot.

What they have in common -- good run blockers. Leaders on steriods. Great locker room guys who are beloved by teammates.

Mike Renner was mentioning on Take Command that teams might want to go heavy on the trenches in the first to chase Philly, which, I dunno if I've gotten that vibe but I'd love that for us. Go ahead, draft Booker/Zabel and all the tackles, get the DL3Ts and DL1Ts and maybe snag Dart ;) so that when they get to us only like 3-4 edges have been picked. Like please drop Mykel or James Pearce Jr. into our laps k thx.

I do expect Texans to be sort of a backstop for the top 4 OTs unless Simmons' medicals are really bad. They neeeeeeed someone.

I wouldn't hate the Egbuka pick but I do think some of the WRs you can get end of 2nd aren't too far off. He does feel like would have the 'Commander' tag and will be a great leader whereever he ends up.
 
What do you guys think of Nohl Williams as a potential target at our 4th rounder?

Kyle Williams is the WR I want most for this offense. I like the Memphis prospect too Roc Taylor.
 
I find it kind of wild that we brought in a Rice corner as 1 of our top 30 visits…

Speaking of wild, Arian Smith (another 30 visit), in his first 2 years at Georgia: 5 catches, 188yds, 3 tds. His total through his first 4 years - 20 catches for 539, 6tds. Insane production vs ridiculously low usage. Talk about a unique prospect.

A lot of drops. If last year is prologue to this one then combine meetings are much more telling than top 30. But top 30 was the 2nd most telling.

Potential is for day 3. A pass rusher with 1 sack? No thanks.

3-cone and shuttle scare me for sure . . . for an RB, lateral quickness if very important and those two drives are to test lateral quickness with burst . . . not a good sign IMO.

Way off my opinion that the SS group is better than the FS group, perhaps true if they were blended into one list but as far as pure Box safety's go after the top 10 or so is woof said for what could be some hidden Day 3 gems, which I think are there.

  1. Kevin Winston Penn State *Surest tackler in the class with only one missed tackle in 3 seasons I believe – something close to that effect and versatile chess piece do it all type; ability to knife into the backfield and disrupt plays is elite; health knee injury is a concern and could use some more mass/strength but darn good-looking Safety prospect
  2. Sebastion Castro Iowa *I love Iowa players in general molded differently and usually a safe bet; Controlled violence type of offender (borrowed term from draft buzz apt for this player) love his physicality and instincts; can offer N/CB value but likely only in zone type schemes; can be too aggressive; missed tackles but excellent Box safety projection at the next level; Wasted resource rushing the QB keep him off blockers as much as possible where he is at his best IMO
  3. Lathan Ransom Ohio State *Completely and I do mean I’m out there on an island by my lonesome goes against consensus take but I think he may be better suited mostly at FS though he is good in the Box; has some bad whiffs; slow reaction occasionally but still someone I see as a high ceiling & moderate floor type.
  4. Glendon Miller Maryland *Solid player likely underrated scheme versatile better FS/CB than in the Box imo good anticipation & ball skills; Pro Day testing will be huge and likely propel him higher because I expect good numbers
  5. Dan Jackson Georgia *Scrappy, cocky player with great instincts & elite closing speed; hits with authority, good pursuit angles and anticipation quality versatile Safety prospect who is probably a sleeper in this group
  6. Hunter Wohler Wisconsin *Good athlete with insane 3-cone score for his size; good big Nickel type; may lack long speed but is explosive excellent read and react skills in the Box and sound tackler; better ball skills, range and cover aptitude than credited for; likely being underrated and like this prospect a lot
  7. Dean Clark Fresno State *Easily one of the most underrated and sleeper prospects of the SS group aside from Dan Jackson Georgia * Robert McDaniel Jackson State * Mishael Powell Miami with an incredible 9.35 RAS score; excellent strength brought down UCLA TE who is massive solo definite sleeper potential good range instincts blitzer and cover type player
  8. Maxen Hook Toledo *Sound tackler with good closing speed and range that can deliver a licking; good all-around athlete with great motor probably being underrated by scouts a bit
  9. Mishael Powell Miami *Ballhawk sleeper with excellent versatility can play FS or N/CB-Heavy Nickel; baffling why he’s not higher rated; good ball skills 5 int’s & hits with power has good range guessing 4.5’ish speed
  10. Makari Paige Michigan *Excellent length 6’4” and size; above average instincts and can cover; adequate speed good foundational skill set; interesting developmental type prospect that could afford a nice return on modest draft capital; like this player
  11. TaMuarian Wilson Central Arkansas *Excellent size could easily make the transition to off ball or inside linebacker; not a lot of film on him but do see the references of him being a force in the middle; he can wallop dudes; good pursuit angles and appears to have adequate speed; Day 3 sleeper potential perhaps
  12. Robert McDaniel Jackson State HBCU prospect *Definite sleeper potential scheme versatile played outside CB & Safety; excellent frame
  13. Aubrey Burks West Virginia *Good read/react skills; very good closing speed affords good versatility lacks ideal size and top end speed but solid all-around
  14. Rayuan Lane III Navy *Good athlete and read and reaction skills; instincts and range for the position with plus cover skills with good closing speed but lacks top end speed and ideal mass, length
  15. Shilo Sanders Colorado *Not an easy prospect to gauge imo; lack of ideal length & size and his 40 time is not being disclosed that I can determine but probably in the 4.5 plus range; good hitter has range skills, needs to tackle better seems to have good ball and read and react skills
  16. Malik Verdon Iowa State *Plus length and size with good ball skills; speed is a question mark; athlete former WR & QB traits based upside
  17. Ian Kennelly Grand Valley State *9.13 RAS score; excellent ball skills with 8 Int’s developmental type that could return surprisingly high ceiling and value
  18. Trey Rucker Oklahoma State #9 *Enforcer type with above average ball skills; great length and size; traits based upside
  19. Mike Smith Jr. Eastern Kentucky *Smooth athlete but very developmental type needs a lot of refinement technique wise but foundation is there to build upon
  20. Jaden Voisin South Alabama * Developmental type; solid production 4 int’s; seems like a quality athlete with good motor and traits based upside

I really like Hunter Wohler from Wisconsin. Hall the measurables to become a really good SS.

Good to know about the drops, I figured something had to be off in a major way with him.

I was looking at last year’s meetings earlier, and started counting how many players we met with at the NFL Combine. I counted 115 just on offense… I gave up at that point. Feels like something is missing as we have something like 14 reported Combine meetings this year? I suppose more reports will come out in the near future.

Also noticed we drafted 3 of our top 30 visits, and then signed another in UDFA (Dankwah). So apparently that’s the more telling meeting in terms of percentages.
