The 2025 Draft Thread

^^^ If we end out drafting him with our first pick, he could end out being one of the least hyped, boring, yet best players drafted. He is amazingly some how flying under the radar on boards and fits the Commanders culture

Yeah if i had to think back he was my first want when the draft process started for me, months ago, he was my initial want because I was aware of the player and intangibles, etc. He's still high on my list.

But yeah the Terry comparisons are all apt. He is a smart player, easy to coach, run blocks well, catches well. I saw one of his pregame speeches, inspirational. Leader on steroids. Having him and Terry in the same locker room would make that brotherhood stuff that Quinn touts even more special.

Absolutely. If taken with our first pick, would you then wonder if they look for a bigger red zone threat via WR or TE later in the draft or FA cuts?

Wondered about the same thing, if it goes like Matt Miller's mock, focusing on edges: Stewart, M. Williams, Ezeiruaku will be available.

Scourton goes #60.

In the 3rd: Landon Jackson, Princely, Oladejo, JT in the late third.

4th: Burch, Kennard, Sorrell, Gillotte

In the 5th, Ivey, D. Walker

per method man asking me to check him out.

Luke Kandra. 6 '4, 319 guard from Cincy. Only watched one game but I think I get the picture with him.

Looks like he belongs in a Marvel movie, barrel chested strong looking dude who can move. Anchors and mirrors well in the passing game. Mauls in the running game.

Only issue I see with him is his upper body seems stiff when he moves both in the run and pass blocking. Almost like his chest is too thick. Where I think a dude with a good bull rush might be able to get underneath his upper body and take him off balance, especially considering he has sub 32 arms. In the run game, he sometimes miss his mark or just gets to the shoulder of his target. But moves really well down the field, 2nd level, etc.

What's interesting to me is thus far there are some positions they are mostly or completely ignoring: DT, S, LB.

Feels like: DE, CB, WR, RB, O line.
I agree.

With the caveat it's almost impossible to know what this team is thinking except for publicly available information (who they've met with, where and when), because Peters and company keep information on lockdown, this does seem to make some sense:

- LB, their "big" signing last year was Luvu, they have Wagner, and really liked Magee who they drafted last year, he was just hurt all year. Guessing they want to see how Magee develops (assuming health) and then go from there.
- S, they signed Hampton, have Martin and Butler. Could they add a guy? Sure. But could they add a guy later in the draft who really is going to have more upside/immediate potential than the guys they have? Unlikely. And you can find safeties who can play and play well.
- DT, they signed like 47 DTs.

They are tight lipped but last year their combine meetings were somewhat prologue.

The opposite with Rivera where the combine meetings seemed to mean nothing to the bottom line.

Agree, which is why I said you have to look at the publicly available information. Combine meetings, who's pro days they go to, top 30 visits, visits at senior bowl, east-west shrine game, etc.

I think that's what can lead you in a direction.

At least as to the combine-pro days, only one i see is Billy Bowman. Most project to the 4th or later. Not much action at safety.
I've checked Anselmheifer's list and we've met with a ton of safety prospects twice but yes, only Bowman three times so far. I'm actually staggered how many players we've formally met with, it's an enormous list!

It's an incredible turnaround from what became our norm! Great feeling knowing they are sniffing everywhere at every position and not leaving stones unturned

I was looking i believe at the same one.

If it is, most of those meetings don't mean anything -- if its Senior Bowl, east-west, pro day, etc. For two reasons. Nagy always says for the Senior Bowl to ignore the meetings list because every team meets with every player there. So anyone not mentioned is a sin of omission. I heard the same as to East-West. And as for the prodays most teams are at all of them. Heck I saw on twitter for example someone tweet that they are scoping out Nash at San Jose St. considering so few teams were there. Then in a subsequent tweet I saw that 25 out of 32 teams were at that proday.

it's not about two meetings. It's about a formal meeting at the combine being one of the two meetings. Combine was king last year-- nothing else. The combine was the operative one. Did they meet with a ton of safety prospects at the combine? On the list i looked it it was only one.

Appreciate you watching. I know Chump Bailey likes him as well. I think he's going to be around in the 4th and he seems to presents good value there.

Hampton is a LB now. I think they moved him there late in camp when it became obvious Owens was going to beat him out for the last safety spot. The issue with Owens is he may be a stud STer only and may struggle as a traditional defender - the guy's college tape must have had serious issues for him to go undrafted despite being scoring a perfect 10 RAS. I'd love to grab another box safety type in the 6th or 7th to bring into camp to sit behind Harris for a year.

At DT, it'd be a real shame if DT4 isn't a rookie. DT is super deeper this draft and we should be able to land a decent prospect Day 3. I would love for us to look at Jordan Phillips and Jemaree Caldwell rounds 4/5. A guy like Eddie Goldman at this stage shouldn't be making the team out of camp...like Crowder, he should be IRed , stashed and activated once we have injuries.

Every team has a list that big or close enough when using those parameters. Senior Bowl, East-West Shrine, Pro-day, etc. All teams attend and meet with just about every player there -- Nagy insists every team indeed meets with every player at the Senior Bowl so he advises to ignore that meeting list.

But even if that wasn't the case, last year it wasn't just about did they meet with a dude twice. It was about one of those meetings had to be a formal combine meeting. those formal combine meetings were king last year.

I know some said here, Skattebo won't run the 40. i thought he would based on what he said at the combine. Apparently, he will run today. For me, I need to see him run in the 4.5's. 4.6's and am much less excited. 4'5's for the style he plays is enough for me. I do suspect he will run in the 4.5s. Any dude that almost jumps a 40 has some spring in their legs. Apparently we will find out soon today.

Skattebo also worked with movement specialist Tevin Allen and former Wisconsin running back Garrett Groshek on footwork drills, pass-blocking drills, film work and run-blocking schemes on the whiteboard.

"He's a competitor," Luallen said. "He's really cerebral with his body, understanding how to feel things and be able to correct things naturally. … The moment he walked in the door, everybody knew who he was. But he took it all in stride. He has a big personality. That's probably why he's been so endearing as a player to people over the past year. He knows how to make people feel important."

Yeah I also see the LB as having a depth issue. Luvu and Wagner, then we have teamers Bellore and Hampton and McGee who received very low exposure last year due to injury.

People will feel better about Skattebo if he runs a 4.55 instead of a 4.61. It still isn't fast but he its the way he moves that matters

Yeah DT is arguably the most loaded spot in the draft.
