The 2025 Draft Thread

The thing about Burden, setting aside that IRL the front office probably doesn't like him, is that he desperately wants to play with JD. Guy was liking all of JD's instagrams so much I suspect JD5's mom is gonna separate them.

I feel like that is something that could be used to get the most out of Burden. His Breakinator Score of 1.95 is really good.

(Breakinator is something I made up where you take dominator % and divide it by breakout age. Traditionally you'd want it to be at least 25% dominator and breakout ideally 20 or younger for a 1.25 score, so 1.25 is like a baseline for decent NFL projection)
 
Tyler Baron, I read the team met with him for some time after the Miami pro day. Watched him a little, he has good bend. Great motor, disruptive player. Sometimes overshoots which hurts in the run game albiet PFF gives him good run grade scores.

Has some really good PFF scores overall. 10 sacks. Some of the longest arms in this group. One of the best athletes in this group, too. Was good in Tennessee prior to his stint in Miami. Mock drafts seem to put him somewhere from the 3rd-5th round.

If the stories about him being a diva, doesn't like to practice -- some odd family dynamics with his mom and his girlfriend is his agent, etc -- he doesn't seem to fit that locker room brotherhood theme they are trying to build aside from him lobbying to play with Jayden. And heck his head coach even said on the record that he doesn't think he's a good fit for a team who already has Deebo on the roster.

Jaydon or Tuten if hitting that 3rd tier of running backs who can fly. They both have fumbiling issues though. I like Tuten's physicality more. I like Blue's hands-route running more.

 
Jarquez Hunter, one of the only RBs I haven't watched until this afternoon. Digested him some. He's an odd duck in this mix of running backs in that he doesn't really major in one flavor. He's smallish but looks jacked. Looks like he worked his body over the years because was scrawny in some of his earlier games.

Not much zig-zag, stop and go to his game. But he's a decisive, one cut and go runner with good speed. He plays with some physicality too. Looked decent in pass protection. Nothing special though in the passing game. And needs to fix his fumbiling issues.

Hunter is small, but he doesn't let that hinder his physicality. He is a high-intelligence player with good eyes and anticipation in all phases of the game. I noticed judging by their meetings. What mattered last time was combine meetings and to some extent the top 30 visits.

The focus is DE, O line, CB, WR, RB, K.

RBs are the ones mostly projected in the late 4th-6th range.
O line all over the map
WR 2nd round and some later
Edge: 2nd-4th round ball park range
CB: 2nd-5th round ball park range.

Clearly some meetings haven't been disclosed. But judging by these meetings -- maybe they want to accumulate picks in the 2nd-4th round. Maybe they aren't hung up on any position in the first round if they don't trade back.

In a trade back looking at their more important interviews: Conerly, Landon Jackson, Jayden Higgins, Trey Amos? That's one player at each spot ironically.

If trading down deeper into the 2nd or early mid -third: J. Noel, JT Tuimoloau, Kyle Kennard, Oladejo, Wyatt Milum. Those are three edges in that mix.

Diving deeper down 4th round range: Tyler Baron edge, Billy Bowman safety, Quincy Riley CB, and then you got the RBs: J. Hunter, W Marks (who could go lower), Jordan James (might be gone before this pick but not impossible)

Then in the 6th-7th: you got the special teams guys, the kickers, lower round LBs they are talking too and some O line projects.

Martinez would be great. But I think he's going late 2nd-3rd. At worst early 4th.

I don't think he ends up in that late 4th round bucket. His numbers are so a leg above so many of these otther backs. He's arguably the best power back in this group after Judkins and Skattebo. And arguably he's in the class of those 2 backs.

And no. I haven’t settled my beef with Thor even though I’ve buried the hatchet with PFF.

Mason is an example of that. I think he has the third highest floor in this group. A rare borderline bust proof TE. But am also not intrigued at all by his ceiling -- i don't think his ceiling is that high. But I think he's almost surefire a solid #2 TE in this league. High end #2.

Sounds like Emmitt Smith. Nothing flashy but always moving forward.

Emmitt was 5'9" also and some NFL teams felt that Smith was too small and slow for the pro game.

Martinez doesn't get mentioned much here or nationally because it's a giant RB draft and he is similar to Robinson. The thing is, he's better than him in power, instinct and hands/receiving, just no afterburner like BRob. Robinson was predicted to go late 2nd to the beginning of the 4th in a decent RB draft. In a lesser RB draft I could see Martinez receiving more hype like BRob.

I agree with SIP that he could go in the 3rd, and he would be an upgrade. Like you, I like Martinez better than a lot of the other speedier receivers being mentioned in this thread, they all have different dings.
